I have 4 Siemans LG7641 series tubes for sale, new old stock, NOS.
Each has been fired up on my bench for 20 minutes, and power is 1 mW +/- 2.5% , usually higher.

Asking 32$ and 7$ shipping each,in the US (Priority Mail, fixed rate)

These are the raw glass tube, not a head.

They have never been in a system, they are unused.

I kept them for spares for medical aiming lasers, I no longer need them.

Before some one says, oh, thats expensive, keep in mind the packing material alone costs 5$ to put together. I go to extremes to pack tubes well.

Overseas customers, will pay actual shipping.

I've been thinking about getting a HeNe for some time now... what is required to make one of these run though? I know a power supply would be necessary, but water-cooling wouldn't be necessary, would it? Any other external parts to be added besides the PSU?

Nothing wrong with those prices for some NOS nostalgic
HeNe tubes. In another 20 years they will be antiques...

I have some NOS Meridith Instrument High Voltage Xfos
that they used in their <5mW Laser Power Supplies...
PM me if you would like to add one with a Tube in your sale...
I think I may still have the Schematics to build the Laser supply
that uses those Xfos...

Sorry didn't want to hijack your Thread.. just help..

These run on roughly 2500 volts at 5 to 6 mA. You can either pick up a PSU brick from Ebay or Meredith instruments, or get a transformer from Jerry and roll your own.

These lasers are air cooled. They do not even need a fan.

Schematics are in Sam's FAQ.

All you would need with a brick psu is a ballast resistor , usually a 56K 2 watt resistor, which costs perhaps 2$.

You are not threadjacking. Henes are like the Border Collies of lasers, exceptionally heartwarming for some reason. It is good to spread the warmth.

Pics for those who requested.

Note digital camera does NOT do justice to the "Glow", I had to block the strobe with a card. The "Glow" is much more yellow-white then the pic shows.

Do you think one of these would run on a 2.5-3.1 kVDC (6.5mA) melles griot PSU?

No problem if the PSU is good, and I'll even get it through OZ customs for you.

Do have a ballast resistor? If Not I can pick up one locally for you.

Wow. Nice price on those. I may take one off your hands if any of my HeNe PSUs can power it. My GrHeNe's might be pretty close. I'll have to look tomorrow.

A ballast resistor would be great :)

Do you have any idea how much shipping is going to cost? I don't have much money to spare at the moment.

Postal shipping to the land of OZ would be about 10 US dollars, for low and slow, and about 20 US dollars for priority. When going to OZ, volume matters more then weight. I just sent some things to Sydney, and that was the official pricing.

The issue is the volume of the packing around the tube.

I can toss in the 56K resistor.

Remember, that now any international package over 4 pounds in weight has to be shipped at least Priority Mail

I know that this could be a pretty light package, but just keep an eye on that upper limit

Peace,
dave
