Yay, I got mine :D

here's the spread:

Lots of cool stuff in there. Some I'll use, the others I'll try to find some cool use for. Although, I'm not sure what some of it is yet.

Re: FS:  Surprise Packages :) (SOLD)

haha, yeah, I was actually playing with those... always wondered what exactly they were supposed to do.

As for the other stuff, there's a baggie of cool little optical parts... looks like maybe salvaged from the sequencer that the sweet argon laser came out of? And, there are some nice big coated optic disks that look like they pass blue and reflect green? I was having fun trying to combine a violet with my green, but I need something to mount it all for proper alignment. Got an 803T diode :D Oh, and there's one of the leadlight cases (like Andy's selling, I think?), but no button? Is that why it's in the surprise box, lol?

Anyway, lots of fun stuff to play with... thanks Dave :)

You separate them just a bit in your hand and throw them into the air. Then you should catch them ;)

The baggy of optics are from several pieces of equipment I've salvaged (DNA sequencer, electron microscope, copy machines, parts from old "collection", etc.). There's beam splitters and filters, front surface mirrors, 1/4 wave plates, focusing lenses, and some polarizing lenses in there as well. The separate lenses (in the separate cases) are the most valuable part of the optics. As I said, these started out as good packages of optics and just got out of control with the "freebies." I figured if anybody out of the five, could make a driver to fit the leadlight without the guts, you could. ;)

And yes, getting the lasers aligned, at the same height, and at the right angle to combine the beams is a pain even with good holders.

Peace,
dave

Oh yeah... I have what looks like two aluminum bars? Do they have a specific purpose, or just aluminum stock?

Just stock. I make custom heat sinks out of it.

+1 rep for Dave, I got my package yesterday and had much fun opening it and sifting through everything. It was like Christmas.

Cool, that's what I figured. Now if I only had a lathe...

Why? I don't.

I have a hand drill, a dremel, and sandpaper/stones. Does it take longer? Yes. So what? The world is scheduled to be destroyed on Sunday anyway.

Peace,
dave
