I have a new offer! Heatsinks will be made for the Sonar cases and will be sold with them! Please read the 3rd page of this thread for that discussion. Pics of the cases I got are on page 2!!

Hey guys, I have up for sale some of the awesome Sonar Cases that are made by Wicked!

Though the lasers they make with these cases are very questionable, the cases themselves are pretty awesome, as many people agree :) You can make some pretty sweet lasers in them, and they are best for blu-ray!

Now, I should point out now that you can no longer get these off the Wicked Site. And when they were being sold off the site, they were $50 USD + $22 USD shipping. Total of $72 USD for 1 case.

I'm offering these cases for $55 USD shipped anywhere. 30% saving on Wicked, so not too shabby :)

Also, for you builders out there. If you're interested in buying a lot of these, building blu-rays out of them then putting them back on the market, then I'm willing to offer discounts for your bulk buy :)

btw, I've got 9 of these cases up for sale.

If you would like some dimensions, you can check out the Sonar II on the wicked site that uses the same case: http://www.wickedlasers.com/lasers/SONAR_II_Burner-73-24.html

Note that I'm not sure whether Wicked will send the Sonar II or Sonar I cases. They differ only a bit if colour and length, here is my Sonar I case to get an idea:

At the moment I'm just looking for interest. Once the cases arrive to me, I can give a full product specification for you :)

I've heard that these are just bare cases, no module, nothing to hold the diode etc etc. That being said, can you take some pics of the inside when you get them so we can get an idea of what we will need to do to create a full laser? Thanks!

Yup, bare cases. They're pretty bare inside really.

So these aren't easy cases to build lasers with, but you are rewarded with one awesome looking laser at the end, it's kind of a little trade off

I was thinking of making some heat sinks that would fit inside the case and hold an aixiz module. Another thing I'm worried about is that the opening on the case may be too small for the fatness of an aixiz beam.

Yeah, I just had a little check with my aixiz blu-ray and it is a tiny bit too small.

But it would be very easy to drill it out a little wider. That's what I'm planning to do.

Like I said, these are not easy projects and not for the faint of DIY. But they are rewarding ones, Sonar cases look really cool, I can't wait to get mine up and running

hmm.

those are some damn sexy cases, but I'd really need to see the inside of one to see if it's worth it...

you say they don't fit an aixiz module? they're not focusable? there's significant drilling of metal involved in making these useful in any way?

Is kenom's GB still open for orders? Seems that would be about a billion times better... cheaper, easier to use, just press in a diode and screw in a lens, drop batteries in and you're done.

They will fit an aixiz. But if you want to get it right so you can focus it, you need to drill out the front a bit. Drilling through a few mms of aluminium doesn't count as significant drilling to me :)

Kenoms barrels are a lot easier to work with, I'm not going to deny that :)

I'm targeting these barrels to people with the equipment to pull these off. All you'd need to do is drill out the front and you're set! And if you wanted, you could get a lathe and make a proper heatsink for it.

Just to reiterate an offer. I'll take $300 USD + shipping for all 9 cases. That's $34 a case. Make some nice heatsinks, do a bit of drilling, and you can build some really amazing looking blu-rays. The market is saturated with blu-rays at the moment, so making some blu-rays with a unique case (haven't seen anyone sell any of these blu-rays) and look totally awesome and you'll get good returns :)

And if you're a trusted member of these forums (I already know who you are) then I don't require any money up front :) Pay me once you start selling ;)

Yup, it comes with a button. Little metal stud thing.

It comes with a cool case as well, it's sitting under the barrel in the third pic :) It has magnets in it ;D

kenom, under different circumstances I would be very interested in a trade. But at the moment, I need cash :(

Well, I'd buy one right this minute but I'm having issues with paypal. Apparently they don't like it when you associate your account with a savings account. See for most it would be no problem but my savings account can only be drawn off it electronically 12 times per month. Hehe, one too many times of exceeding the 12 transactions per month and I'm no longer verified and have no bank associated with my paypal which means a Sending limit of $0 Save me one and as soon as I get this crap squared you have one sold for sure.

PayPal is absolutely screwing me over too. I have sent upwards of 25 emails to them regarding the same issue over the period of a month.

If someone makes some heatsinks or some easy applicable DIY parts and stuff I would buy this, but with my skill it would be too much work.

Yeah, if you don't have the equipment I wouldn't recommend buying.

I'm still targeting this for people who have the equipment and who are interested in using these to make some awesome looking blu-rays and selling them :)

You don't by any chance have a digital caliper do you? It'd be nice to know the exact dimensions of it... Specifically the diameter of the hole where an aixiz might fit, as well as how much room there is inside for drivers and batteries...

Do you think you could post some pics of the inside of the one you have?

I've just emailed Wicked to ask about a spec sheet for them. That's better than anything I can do :)
