Such a nice WL diode deserves a good host, this little brass and copper host Lifetime17 made is also first class and heavier than it looks, which I like, this diode isn't going to overheat in this thing. Sure is a beautiful color, admiring he beam in a darkened room too, have never fired up this wavelength before tonight. Thank you for selling me a module ready to play.

I knew you would like this color, Chris. I have seen many of these diodes now and they are all just spectacular to behold. I have run them from 200 mA up to 300 mA in builds, but have pushed a couple up to close to 400 mA in testing them. I am too afraid to push them any harder as losing one would be a crime.

Yes, I have two spare diodes too but both are in Alaska. Imagine PBS cube combining two, I won't be doing it, but it would be something uber nice.

Ha! I only have one spare myself. I wanted to be sure I had this wavelength for a long time.

I was the one fortunate enough to purchase jnrpops' 495nm. A beautiful color in a beautiful host. One thing I have noticed since purchasing a 495 and 1 505nm last month was how my perception of colors has changed. My favorite frequency used to be a 473nm. Now compared to a 495 the 473 looks almost too blue. Very weird. The same with the 505nm. It makes my 520nms almost too green. When I received the 495 last week I was already committed to what I was photographing and just took some test shots of the 495 (and 505) with what I already had set up. Here are a few of them, just to get the color comparisons. Nothing fancy. I have already started with my eleven frequency rainbow, and when they are done , I will taking some of the 495 and mix it with the 505nm and 473nm.

Lastly, thank you jnrpop! You were nice enough to ship this the the USA and I had the laser in my hands six days after we agreed on the details. A GREAT person to deal with. Thank you!

I have found that cameras have a difficult time differentiating between my 502nm and my 493nm. They are only 9nm apart, but my eyes can certainly tell the difference, especially when the two are side by side. I'm very happy you got a 495nm laser to add to the rest of your collection, Bruce. With these new wavelengths, I have noticed that my eyes are able to differentiate between wavelengths that are much closer than I previously thought possible. Great photos, Bruce. I am out of reps again, so I will be back to rep you later.

That 495nm color seems to do that to people who have had a "favorite" wavelength, it's just that special IMO. :yh:

Do you see a square-ish artifact with the G2 lens on your 495?
I just recently ordered some 2 element '520' lenses to see if it looks any different.

I have yet to find a glass lens that eliminates that artifact completely. That is why I only use acrylic lenses on all my builds. No trace of that nasty box and the power is still reasonably high compared to a glass aspheric.

Bacon, I have that artifact when using an acrylic lens or with a G2-like aspheric lens, both produce it.

That is strange, Chris. I have built and setup many of these diode from Sharp and have sent them out to many members here. I have yet to see that artifact with an acrylic lens on any of the diodes I have handled. Now, the lens housing is too short on these acrylics to use them like any other lens, so I use fingernail polish to hold the lens on the focus ring just where it first grabs the lens. After drying for a couple of hours I can get optimum focus without bottoming the lens out.

Yep, it's too short to put a cap on it, that's why I swapped it for the glass but I was hoping the artifact would be less, nope.
