Re: ---sold---, 1300mW 532nm Lab Module

Well, I finally found the time to figure this laser and its driver and power supply out, and after chopping a brand new line cord and soldering the +5 VDC to the TTL enable on the driver board, it is now lasing. I took a couple of quick beam shots, but definitely not my best work. I need to resize them and try to get them posted tomorrow. Hopefully, I will be able to take some better photos and post them as well. It seems to have a TEM00 Gaussian beam and it should run indefinitely though the driver's heat sinks gets pretty warm. As I was passing in front of the laser to get some beam shots I got burned, so it is definitely doing at least 1 watt, though I haven't yet measured the output.

That was a fast delivery and nice laser at a great price!

Soundz like it arrived in good condition and is working well---be careful/safe ---got burned, ouch--avoid being a beam dump if possible, ---remember goggles too

Some nice photos would be great.

Enjoy it.

Thanks, Encap. I'm pretty happy with it so far. Not nearly my highest power laser, though. And I have googles, but don't always use them. I am always very careful with all my lasers and I have never come close to having a reflected beam inside or out.

Glad to hear it arrived to you Paul without any hassles, enjoy that unit and of course as Encap stated, avoid being a "beam dump" :)

Very good! Glad to hear it's all working.

Is the head TEC cooled as well as having a fan for cooling?

Crystal set + LD will be TEC cooled, yes. Usually one TEC for each. Keep an eye on the temperature of the base plate, but if it has a fan it should be OK to run without additional heatsinking though.

The shipping was really quick, I'll be using DHL for shipments to the states again!

As Diachi said, LD and Crystal set both use Tecs, and the Fan in the rear of the Head was only recently replaced with a new, quieter model, should be really cool on the head side of the system,
As for the Driver, I'd recommend fitting a fan, 40x40 if I remember right, and it should fit&bolt straight in.
This will ensure a stressless life for the transistors when lasing for long runs,
Happy and safe lasing

I've been trying to upload these two photos I took last night most of the day so far. If this works it is one of a closeup of the laser on my bench and another of a beam shot.

Edit: back to the drawing board.

Edit: back to the drawing board.

Don't feel bad Paul, I had to get my Son to show me how to post pictures. Than I forgot, and had to have him re-show me. As it's been said " I feel your pain". :tinfoil:

Edit, if it helps, as per my Son, "paste" in the mountains on the LPF web site. It's a saying he taught me so I would remember where to "paste" on the forum. Hope it helps. :)

Thank you, diachi. I've been struggling with this for hours and was about to try again, but now I don't have to. +rep. :D

A beautiful 532 lab unit shooting a bright green beam across your room, nice purchase Paul! :)

Thanks, Alex. I am enjoying it very much. It is much heavier than I expected it to be. I haven't been able to show it to anyone yet, but my daughter will be by in a few days and she always gets a kick out of my lasers. Either that, or she gets a kick out of me being excited by them. :D

Hehehehe. Make sure she wears safety goggles :shhh::shhh:

Not the highest output power in your collecrion listings of lasers owned but it has to be special one several times brighter visually that any of them + very low divergence + gaussian beam & TEM00 most of the time.
Not many people get to have an handle such a laser --DPSS lab units have characteristics that can not be found in handhelds.
I still can not believe the great price you got if for--nice buy.

Nice pictures--good luck with it.

PS Post more pictures when you have a chance to compose some

Yeah I'm pretty proud of it. It does have a tendency to amaze, and I'm not easily amazed. I am planning on taking some more photos and then cull out the best to post. It does have a nice Gaussian beam with very little divergence compared to diode based lasers.

No problem!

I'm green with envy! :D

Yeah, I've been there when someone gets something like this laser. I figured it was my turn to actually add something special to my collection. Now, I am in the midst of paying for it. Fortunately it isn't that high a price to pay. I believe these same lasers are being sold for $420.00 and up on eBay right now. Of course I can't make a real comparison, but they have similar specs.
