You would be very wrong on this one. I have both and they don't even need to be on together to tell them apart. The 488nm is a sky blue color while the 495nm, or in my case the 493nm, is green/blue. Right on the edge between those two colors. I can tell which is which by sight alone.
Hmm, I might need to get the 488nm too then:drool:
I remember only a year or two ago people here were paying like $1000+ for a 488nm pointer from CNI.

Yes, you can get a binned diode from ZRaffleticket that wiil output 135 mW at 275 mA for far less than was even possible only 2 months ago.

Hopefully yellow will become affordable soon as well.

I look forward to receiving the X3-BE but I still have no news. no news from the pocket 490 also

We really tried to ship beam expander orders asap but the demand for it always surpassing the speed we produce them. Your 488nm pocket will be shipped today, sorry kept you waiting.

Good news.

I look forward to get them. Because I need to order more X3 BE with M9 0.5 for all unit of my collection:)

Re: FS: Sanwu Laser store - R/G/B handhelds x3 BE & Stainless steel "The Spiker" rele

I received my Pocket, I love this little host and the Sharp diode inside have a good pattern like the 487nm diode I received from Paul, no wavelength / color difference is visible... Perfect:D

I think I ordered the G7 version but I found a two element lens inside mine ? If no mistake in my order...

I solved this problem myself  I never use this lens on my lasers because it have a bad focus point with too much spherical aberration and diffraction that forms concentric circles on far field. For me the only valid lens is my G7 because the G2 is really too divergent and the 2/3 elements lens from Aixiz are obsolete in comparison to the G7 which offers all the advantages, more power, better beamspecs less box reflexion and optical aberration.

I get 10mW more with my G7 and a way smaller pin point dot :

I tested my lens inside the original assembly from Sanwu to check the focal lenght. it's very similar, but I want to screw more the barrel.
attachment.php

I removed the barrel glue with heat, I threw the barrel 2 elements to the trash. And I cleaned perfectly the host head with few hours soaking inside acetone :
attachment.php

I mounted my usual barrel and G7 lens, I totally screwed it to the bottom of head. I keep all unmountable as always.
I can use the survivallaser sprint inside the head ! goodbye the o-ring and goodbye the loss of focus due to the thread.
attachment.php

I finally find the focus precision of all my other lasers and ten free mW more + and easy to unmount to clean:D
Note I prefer to keep a tiny marging to do positive focus like any other lasers. it's safer for storage.
attachment.php

Also : I tested the G7 sanwu which a big cons because there is a non-optical / non-lens space between the lens and the barrel make a lot of splash around the dot, and the thread is too much too tight and does not fit in all copper modules :
attachment.php

My G7-mod always offer few mW more ! bye bye the sanwu G7 lens, I have the best technical choice! Note, full opening / machining the Aixiz barrel is not needed for the pocket Sanwu because aperture diameter is the same as default aixiz aperture.
attachment.php

But I love this pocket from Sanwu !

So you are basically masking the output from the lens. This has always been a way to eliminate splash or even the rectangular artifact that occurs with so many lenses. You will lose some power output as it cuts into the outer diameter of your beam. But, it is a solution.

No, look my quick&dirty drawing : I hide only the NON-optical part of the lens.

Opening this part is counterproductive and useless for beam power, it only add splash.

On my multimode green Nichia I get same power with the sanwu + a LOT of splash ! The short G7 lens is useless for me.

At a 7 mm FL, you can see that the amount of light getting to the lens is compromised by the smaller aperture of the entrance to the lens by the diode. If any part of the light coming from the diode is blocked before it gets to the lens, you are losing power. I'm sure it is better than a 3 element lens as they consistently cut the power output by as much as 30%. What power do you get with a short FL asphere? It still looks like masking to me.

Re: FS: Sanwu Laser store - R/G/B handhelds x3 BE & Stainless steel "The Spiker" rele

To add on the lens/"box" issue I just swapped the S1 lens of my 480nm diode with a 3 elements from ebay named "405nm Violet-Blue Laser Diode 3 Layers Collimating Coated Glass Focusing Lens" and I can say the "box" has been reduced to a level that no longer bothers me, even though it's still there. Power went from 129mW to 101mW but I'm fine with that since the dot looks much rounder and it's easier to focus. I intend to use this lens with my 488 and 495nm builds as well, I find it the best of all the ones I tested (G2, S1, 3 elements, acrylic).

I do crap measuring before this I must focus perfectly all lens the same way to get proper values !!! Aixiz barrel input is very sensitive to focus because of what you say.
I had 5mW more because I screwed to max the head of the pocket. I changed my mounting to get the perfect infinite focus at the max, like the brand new pocket. I use a part of spring (the old one used by DTR on 9mm diode) between my modded Aixiz barrel + the pocket head.

I do 3 measures with cooling of the thermopile between each measuring (1mW of repeatability with the A10 RTE)

70mW genuine G2 from SL
62mW my G7
64mW the G7 from Sanwu (2mW more of splash lol)

Finding my G7 inside the Aixiz barrel is always the best compromise (no splash + low box reflexion + very tight dot)

Re: FS: Sanwu Laser store - R/G/B handhelds x3 BE & Stainless steel "The Spiker" rele

I found few missing mW with fresh battery lol

Measure on my NDG7475 with same battery level (but a low battery level of 3.2V * 2) :
1025mW on Sanwu G7 SHORT barrel
1030mW my G7 (I always get a bit more mW on green ?)
1090mW the original G2

I asked Sanwu to get the long barrel G7 I think they are EXACTLY the same as my mod.

I only have the short 7mm lens from Sanwu. I got it just to test with; I think they are way overpriced for what you get. I was less than impressed with my Sanwu 7mm, so it is lurking somewhere in my stock.

What lens you use for what diode ? I never use G2 and 2/3 elements they are too many disadvantage. Power is nothing without control...

Re: FS: Sanwu Laser store - R/G/B handhelds x3 BE & Stainless steel "The Spiker" rele

With the Sharp single mode diodes I still prefer the acrylic lens, splash and all because the splash is only evident at close range and the box is never present with these lenses. For other lasers it depends. But, mostly I use short FL aspheres like the G-2 as they give the most power. I don't use my lasers at great distances, so I don't worry too much about divergence. I do have everything necessary to built a 7+ watt 445nm laser along with the Opt Cyl lenses for beam correction, but haven't gotten around to putting it all together yet.
