up for sale is an optotronics RPL-400 532nm laser. i got this beast direct
from Jack only about 4 months ago, the unit condition is still as new,
no visible scratches or chips anywhere on the laser, took great care of this.
to be honest, i have hardly used this laser since i bought it, maybe a few minutes of
use every couple of days. i have made more use of this laser in the last 2 days
testing its output on Kenoms thermal head meter.
recently, i was measuring the output with the adjustable cap, and was getting results indicating that
the laser may be under-powered and was in contact with jack about returning it.
now that i have tested it with the non-adjustable cap, i know for sure this laser is outputting
well above its advertised 400mw.
due to this being a high powered green, the diode has a very narrow temperature
operating range for maximum efficiency and the crystals/diode obviously heat up quick.
because of this, i was unable to get a steady reading on the meter.
ie - this lasers output doesnt flat out and stay at a certain power.
with a fully charged battery i tested this laser 4 times, over 4 minutes for each test with a cooling
break of 2 minutes after each 4 minute test.
within the first 4 minute test, the lowest output on startup was 278mw, the peak output was 472mw.
the average output fluctuated between 359 and 424mw.
during the last 4 minute test, lowest output on startup was 382mw with an incredible peak of 534mw!
the average output fluctuated between 415-479mw.
somethings come up and i need to raise around $1800 within the next 2 weeks so i will offer to sell
this amazing laser in the carrying case with battery and charger with the non-adjustable tailcap for $1000 shipped worldwide.
i would urge the buyer to get some proper goggles for this laser, the wickedlasers 532nm shades i have
are literally useless for this laser.
