Is that a washer in the front, or some type of heatsink ? Can you post pictures of what the heatsink looks like, please ?

If you are using two washers, spaced like so : I---I--- (where the dotted lines represent the module) then you are trapping heat inside, which could very well shorten the life of the diode. Granted, BR diodes are not run at such high currents as to create too much heat, but you should make sure there is a very strict duty cycle imposed upon that laser. Just constructive comments, not hammering <as lotsa folks seem to think!> !!

Jake - If someone lives close to you, and you can live without the meter for a tiny bit of time - I would suggest getting with them, and checking the calibration of your meter It sounds like you were treated good with that purchase, congrats on the great buy ! If nobody lives close enough to you, and you wanted to send it off for comparison, and calibration - let me know, I live in Texas - not sure where you are (Used to know, I think...) All you would have to do is send the unit (well padded, of course) and enclose say $3 for return insurance - I will handle the return shipping costs to help you out some That is IF you are interested in doing this - you should definitely play with it for a little while, before you send it off anywhere for comparison though !
