SOLD!..FS: LaserGlow Aries and Wicked Lasers Spyder II GX

1. Is a brand new LaserGlow Aries (old style without the engraving) Laser with a brand new case. See items here: Laserglow - Aries Green Laser
The problem is it doesn't work :( However, all the pieces are there so maybe someone could repair it...check out the pictures below. This is for a complete non-working laser with a new aluminum Aries case. $50.00 includes shipping in the US.
2. Is a Wicked Lasers Spyder II GX. You can see it here: Green Laser Pointer from Wicked Lasers - Spyder II GX Again it doesn't work. I have gently unscrewed it into several sections (not an easy task) without scratching the housing. They use some sort of white epoxy to prevent you from unscrewing it. Anyway, it is beyond repair due to its design. However all the pieces are there and it would make an awesome housing for a DIY green laser. You could probably put a susie module into it and have something really nice. The top unscrews and includes a black aluminum holder that houses the IR filter and another lens. The crystal sets are all there however there is no c-mount laser in the housing. I removed it to try and fix the Aries but all it did was glow red in the Aries so I left it in there. So basically the Spyder is complete but non-working. I have placed a battery in it and the clicky switch works and I did measure power at the other end. Anyway I would like $100.00 for it which includes free shipping in the US. If you have any questions please PM me. PayPal preferred.

Can you take some pictures of the inside of the Aries case? Does the Aries use the pin at the end and the keyswitch on the side? The 18650 style CNI makes uses the key on the end and the pin on the side...I am still interested in the Aries+Case.

Thanks

The Spyder was broke when I received it. I then used 2 wood clamps and broke the epoxy hold and unscrewed the top and the middle section. The TEC is a poor design in my opinion. If anyone has a Spyder and begins to notice tiny metallic flakes in the head...this is the TEC self destructing. I imagine what happens is if you accidently drop it or knock it against a hard surface, the TEC will break. The reason is the TEC is connected to the lasers head through thin metal fins. Once the head is twisted or bumped opposite the electronics section they begin to break (therefore the metallic flakes begin to appear). Eventually they will all break free and the unit will stop working.

The Aries with the case is SOLD!
John,
I realized I have 2 end caps for the Aries...one has the 2.5mm plug and a key lock, the other has the 9 pin plug with the red looped rat tail. I am gonna send you both of them :)
Also for everyone else the spyder is still available.

What is the inner diameter of the spider?

The inner diameter is 7/8 of an inch or about 22.5 mm's. The width is slightly wider in the head. The length inside the head is about 60 mm's or 2 1/2 inches. If you truly gutted it, then I suspect you could add another inch or so.

Sorry about asking, well I'm bumping your thread. Interesting thoguh thanks, Glenn actually doubted there was a tec in there, I wonder why more lasers don't have it,

Probably because it is not necessary. The Spyder was originally 300 mW's (I think) but the SkyLasers 400 mW+ I just sold had an unlimited duty cycle as well as many others without any extra cooling system. The Hercules 350 I own has a small fan in the head that keeps it cool for an unlimited duty cycle as well. I also would imagine they would require some power and therefore shorten the battery life.
Someone make me an offer on the Spyder...

In pointer format it's pure marketing. That's the reason they're able to sell a $500 laser for $2000. Although it has TEC inside and some other features that may rise the price.
