Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

Jib, where do you get your high-wattage resistors for a decent price? I can't seem to find any.

digikey.com
or mouser.com <<< he gets them there i think since he lives in texas..

But which one does he order? I am sure that same manufacturer makes the same size and same wattage but different resistance resistors, and I like that size/wattage... makes for a compact but powerful resistor, and I could use some :p

Yup, 2512 is a good size and they come in 1W to 2W. On Mouser some are listed under "thick film resistors" and others are under "current sense resistors" ... I usually have to look in both places to find the one I need.

I buy in multiples of 100 to get decent per unit pricing.

oh thats cool, you think if you start offering those round high current boost drivers, that maybe you could include resistors with them for the current desired...ehhh nevermind that... its always easier to DIY...

Ok, finally got use the PSU@work (was being used for real work the past few days) ... here are the 501mA driver test results:

VIN - Resulting Current:
---------------------------
6.0 - 310
6.1 - 330
6.2 - 360
6.3 - 380
6.4 - 400
6.5 - 410
6.6 - 430
6.7 - 450
6.8 - 470
6.9 - 490
7.0 - 500
7.1 - 500
7.2 - 500

at 7.0V 400mA is clearly a typo but other than that thats sweet. A good linear 2 cell build.

so jib, are those round boost drivers a go? cuz i'll buy some to beta test if you need. ;)

Hey jib... So if I were to order a a batch ~10 of custom drivers, would you be able to make them to me?

Yup, I already have you down for some resistors for the 444mA version for next time I order parts.

Yup, it was a typo it was 500mA's (fixed)... I forgot to mention this was done with the dummy load on the 6V setting.

Ive ordered one set of proto boards and that's going to take a couple of weeks ... Ill let you know if it even works then. If it does, Ill do a beta test run for those that have the equipment to measure and put it through its paces.

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

Can u still order me resistors to make 1 250mA and 1 320mA driver jib? Or as close as you can get to those two values, but above 250 if it has to be, and as close to 320 as u can get +/-

Just whenever u order parts. I'll obviouslypay for the parts

Looks good i did put in 8,15V but it still should have been good, i think i have a zombie diode i tried to hook it up to a lab psu and it started with about 10mw @ 200ma and it remained around that until 700ma

so i gues i had a weird diode :p

o and thnx for checking!

hi Jib, got your driver today and i installed it and it works really well, but for some reason it seems to drain my batteries really fast, any idea why? and heats up fast too
