The laser originally came from a surplus DNA sequencer.

There are plenty of multi watt lasers on Ebay. I would think they would leave it alone. Hell, I just got a 4W (8W on the sticker) Lexel 95 from Ebay 2 weeks ago.

Why do they keep on multi watt lasers but take off FDA approved 400mW portable lasers? Ebay's rules are wack.

Maybe so, but it would take a big man to pick up a Lexel 95 and shine it on an aircraft.

I don't think ebay bans lasers just becuase they are afraid someone is going to shine them on planes.

OEM lasers (lab-style, gas systems, etc) are not illegal to distribute, while high-powered pointers are. You yourself could sell 10-20kW CO2 lasers on ebay right now if you wanted with no trouble whatsoever. The rreason is exactly what mophead just said. A high-powered pointer is dangerous because you can pick it up, carry it around and go waving it around with no problem. Can't do that with a multi-watt gas laser.

Would ebay take this down? Isn't that rated at .5W?

It's rated at 40mW ( 2214 denotes a round shaped head, 40 denotes 40mW and ML denotes multi-line operation. I do not know what the A means yet :p )

The sticker says .5W but this is the sticker power, not the actual power.

The paperwork shows it was doing about 87mW at 10A. 40mW at 7+A. It is a bit hard to read the small picture, but that is what it looks like.

Be aware that the PSU and fan with this unit is 200V-240V. You can get a 110V PSU for it and it will work fine.

Peace,

If you right click on the pictures then choose view picture, it is much more legible.

Don't know what happened on Ebay to make them smaller.

Just FYI.

BUMP!!

About 40 hours left on the auction. Less than 58.00 USD at this point in time.

Someone is going to get a hell of a deal at this rate.
