Re: FS-IGORT build bluray 191mW

Can we have a bit more info please? What model diode? What current is it set to?

Re: FS-IGORT build bluray 191mW

It is a 6X diode but I am not sure about the current?
You can find more detailed photos at this link:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/tracking-your-igorts-laser-order-22504-10.html

And here Igort has explained:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-110mw-phr-140mw-4x-170mw-6x-blu-rays-22567.html#post378036

- The price for a 185-215mW 6x Blu Ray laser (jumps to 220-260mW with the medium custom lens upgrade) with a fully pre-tested normal-efficiency GGW diode starts at $270. (This is called the base price)

Because i pre-test all my diodes, you can also ask for higher efficiency diodes or for high wavelength diodes OR BOTH!
These diodes cost a little more, depending on how rare they are in a diode batch - the price differences are calculated statistically - but bring certain benefits. Freaks can reach higher powers without raising the current, and high wavelength diodes LOOK brighter at the same power.
Ask for more info about special GGW diodes!

Higher powers - up to >215mW (= ~250mW after glass) - can be had for the same price, if they are reached by setting a normal diode to a higher current, but in that case there is no diode warranty except DOA (for obvious reasons - higher current = higher risk)...

If a higher power is reached with one of the rare Freak or even Super-Freak diodes, the laser costs more, because there are not many such diodes in a diode batch. But since it will reach a higher power at a lower current, it will live longer and still comes with a "Birth-Defect Warranty"

Lower powers can be had at a lower price if they can be made with a lower efficiency diode!

Because the GGW diodes vary so much, the prices of 6x lasers also vary a little with the diode sub-type you select (freaks and high wavelengths cost more because they are rare, but produce more power at the same current without shortening diode life and/or look brighter due to higher wavelengths - the price differences are calculated statistically - depending on the efficiency/wavelength spread in a diode batch).

Re: FS-IGORT build bluray 191mW

Anyone interested?
This can do anything that 445nm 1W lasers can do:)
It can do better. It can light a match at 5m distance.!!!!

What lens does it have? Acrylic? Glass?

:thanks:

I think that means if you install a 405-G1 lens from Jayrob, the output should increase to 245+ mW's.
An important selling point IMO. You shouldn't have a problem selling this. IgorT builds are very high quality.
If I didn't just have a $300 computer emergency, I would have already bought it from you.
Good luck with your sale though!

I can sell this in my country easily for more than $250 as people pay unbelievable amounts for chinese crap (200mW pen green lasers for $250).
I must admit I don't want to sell it to an idiot who never understands the capability and dangers of this laser and point it to his or her friends eyes.

Thank for your wishes ;)

Re: FS-IGORT build bluray 191mW

The box does look like a wicked Lasers Box but I'm pretty sure I've never owned one. I will take another picture of the box because it doesn't have the Wicked Logo. It is in fact a Viper V160 that I personally bought from Dragon for $449.00 plus S$H. The box in the video looks very familiar as a matter of fact I saw it around here a while back. I think I may have thrown away the original box thinking that for close to 500 bucks they could have at least sprang for the deluxe model. I know what, the proof is in the pudding. I have a video camera and I'm not afraid to show you guys that this is the real deal.

The laser in the video did not have a warning label (not good) and you can see the one at their site clearly does.
Viper Series 160mW Green Laser Pointer :: Green Laser Pointer ----- 532nm Laser ----- Viper Series Lasers :: Handheld Lasers :: Dragon Lasers

My laser is identical down to the casing, brass, button place and type, and they really should put more info on the unit itself, at least the manufacturer if not the model (I would have).

I will be posting more pics and this time video.

I would be skeptical too.

I tried to understand what he is talking about and which video was that :)
Aren't there anybody who wants a burning no duty cycle laser?

Just like to point out this won't burn better than a 445nm set at 1W. Still it's a decent burner. Since you have low rep, it could be putting people off, you may want to look into using a middle man for your trade.

I was away from the forum for a long time. If low rep puts people off they can ask for a middle man no problem.
About better burning it is up to what you want, distance burning or near burning?
It can burn a match at 5m (16,5ft) I don't think 1W 445nm can do it :)
And this is small and has no duty cycle. All small 445nm host have duty cycles.
Even I don't have enough reps IgorT does ;)
BTW thanks for your comment :D

Re: FS-IGORT build bluray 191mW

Can we have a bit more info please? What model diode? What current is it set to?

It's a GGW diode from my old stock (the original 79), which means a REAL GGW diode - without kinks, and not the fake crap the Chinese have been peddling for months now, which are in reality prototype GGW sleds with old GBW diodes inside - with kinks all over the place (i lost over $1k on ~20 of them before i started testing them and figured it out and i can't get rid of them, cos i can't honestly sell them as GGWs when i know for a fact they are not)!

I don't know if "GGW diodes" are still being sold, but if they are, they are really 4x's not 6x's so the diode in here is superior to them in all respects (even tho it's slightly used). Real GGW diodes don't have kinks (ever).

It's also a good efficiency GGW ("cherry-picked" for Murrat), and if memory serves me right it doesn't seem to have degraded much since it's been made - it should still have at least 90% of it's original life expectancy in it, if not a bit more (i'll need to check my data and dig up it's PIV plot), but i think it started out at 193mW. If it is now at 191mW it would have lost 2mW and it's quite possible if not likelly that some of this is from the lens degrading or getting dirty (real indication of degradation would be a power comparison with a fresh lens).

Murrat originally asked me to set it to just above 190mW for a longer life-span (it was a conservative setting for this diode), but it would work just as nicely above 200mW (altho i wouldn't recommend anyone but me trying to change the current, since it's running on my driver set with fixed resistors)...

Otherwise i found Murrat to be more than trustworthy in my dealings with him, he traded me an Aquarius (my first blue laser) for it and sent it up front...

If you use PP for the transaction and he ships registered and provides a tracking number i don't see a problem.

If the end buyer should want for a different power, i would gladly "refurbish" it (for free obviously) if it helps Murrat sell it. I'll also dig up the diode's PIV Plot to check how much life it still has in it exactly and what current it was set to (but i know it's under 200mA).
