Dorcy Jr Heat sinks Available Now!
Order page is now up here:  http://mysite.verizon.net/grall/darkhorsecustom/id47.html

Due to popular demand, I have produced a large batch of aluminum heat-sinks for use in the Dorcy Jr modification. These are precision-machined on all surfaces from "billet" 6061-T6 "aircraft-grade" aluminum. The outside diameter fits closely inside of the head of the Dorcy Jr host and is stopped by the small o-ring that originally sealed the plastic lens, ( a thicker replacement O-ring works even better). The inner-diameter Of the 'sink is a "slip-fit" for a LD-module, such as Aixiz, Sure and DX. The length is 3/8" (9.5mm), if you need a different length, PM me, we might be able to work something out. ;) There are two #6 set-screws that are tapped through the diameter to positively hold your module in place and provide good surface contact for thermal transfer, (a small amount of thermal-compound, such as Arctic-Silver may be applied to the outside of your module to further increase heat-transfer). A very small wrench is also included for these very small screws, (Dr Seuss?).

A note regarding fit:
A few of the modules have needed a light "press-fit" due to manufacturing tolerances on the modules, (my 'sinks are all the same) ;). They are all start with 12mm-ish diameter material, but since this is not a controlled dimension, the manufacturer does not worry about this size. So far, 80 percent or better fit perfect, but I have had a total of 3 out of about 30 modules used that needed to be lightly press-fit. If I make the hole bigger, it makes a normal-sized module look off-center, even if it is off by only .010". I do not want my lasers having the "cock-eyed-DX-look", and I would presume my customers would feel the same. With all of that being said. If you really want to make sure your module fits perfect, I do have a small supply of modules that I have checked and fit for sure. these will be available for an additional charge.

Price
$15USD each +$3 S&H via 1st class USPS anywhere in the USA
International orders will be about $5 S&H, but please PM your address prior to ordering to verify.
My wife is helping with the packaging and shipping, (as well as the Web-Design), so these go out daily, and rarely take more than a couple of days to reach any point in the US, but if anyone needs EMS shipping, just PM me, and we will work it out with you. ;)
Thanks, and happy building
Here are a couple of pictures, I could not resist playing with the BR while taking pictures ::).

Anyone that is considering getting one of these, dont think twice. I have purchased two of these from Dark Horse so far and they have both been perfect. They are super high quality and he ships very quickly. The set screws in the side along with the wrench is an added bonus just showing how good he is to his customers.

Thanks again Dark Horse ;)

These are some of the best heat sinks I've ever seen. I can't buy enough of them :) anyone thinking about whether or not to purchase this should go ahead and think later. You'll be happy you did so.

I'll also chime in to say these things look great. I've seen them in DH's personal builds and they really look killer.

I cant decide whether to go for an MXDL build or a Dorcy Jr build...

Dorcy Jr. torches themselves are pretty expensive...

Both are great hosts, of course you know if you go with the MXDL to go with jayrob's heat-sink, they are an awesome deal. I think the MXDL is a little easier, just because of more room to work with, and the "bezel". In the Dorcy Jr, you have to modify the module to allow for the twisting of the head as you install it. For me, this was difficult to work around in the Dorcy, but in the MXDL, you can just wind everything into the head when you are done. The big attraction with using the Dorcy Jr host is the "package". It is so much smaller and only uses a single battery, with even more efficiancy than the MXDL because of the boost-circuit, although it is not "constant-current".
So, original question; "Which should you start with", depends on which stirs more emotion in your "gut", I guess. The MXDL is probably more basic and therefore suitable for a beginnig project, but the Dorcy is a lttle smaller-"sexier", for me, it was the Dorcy Jr, thanks to Kenom's tutorial, but jayrob's is super-fun to follow as well, I would do both at the same time ;D. Aren't we lucky to be faced with such choices?

Purchased one of these heatsinks for my (yet to arrive) Dorcy host. Shipping to the Netherlands went pretty fast, nicely packaged in a bubble plastic bag. Looks and feels very well crafted, can't wait to start building as soon as I get my other parts from Senkat. Recommended!

FYI: I changed the link in my blu ray howto to this thread, let us know the website when you get it done and I'll change it to that :)

edit: and regarding fit, I think it was just an old batch of heat sinks I had from you that were a tiny bit too small. I opened up one of your newer batches and they were snug but press fit to the regular aixiz / sure modules nicely.

thanks so much for them! I still have quite a few left but if sales remain steady I'll order more :D
