Ok Im starting a new thread since I have gotten plenty of offers for trading some hosts for diodes and drivers in my other thread, for now I will be trading for cash :D

I can machine up pretty much anything you might need, from hosts, to heat sinks, to mounting brackets etc etc etc.

I can do 1 off prototypes or small to large production runs. Custom prototypes are more expensive per piece than a production run of the same design, because the setup and tooling time is distributed over all the pieces so the average build time is much less.

Also keep in mind the more details a design has, the more intricate the machining process and the more it will cost.

I can also send parts off to be anodized, but I am starting to build my own anodizing rig so I dont have to deal with minimum orders and wait time.

Ok here are a few pictures, one is a AA mini keychain sized host, and the other is a dual AA 1" diameter full sized host.

They are machined from 6061 T6 aluminum, the full sized host is machined from a single bar, making it very rugged, and the entire body will act as a giant heat sink.

If you want to cut costs for a production design, the mid sections can be made from tube so the inside doesnt have to be drilled out. This could be done with smaller single battery hosts too.

Pic showing the fins, keychain is a square cut, the full size has a round profile at the base of the fins.

These are just two I machined up for myself, can have them set up however you want.

Machined from one piece or using tubing for the midsection, and how many? Just a few fins on the front and the rest smooth?

Those are very nice looking however there are many unanswered questions besides costs.

1.  How would an Aixiz module fit in the top?  I think the top would need to also unscrew and some type of set screw (hidden) used to hold the module in place.
2.  How do the batteries make electrical contact with the module?
3.  How do you turn it on/off?  Side click, bottom button, twist?

Hopefully someone with manufacturing experience can work these issues.  Perhaps you could also get a commonly used host and figure it out.  Anyway, I look forward to future designs.  They look great and woukld definitely be a crowd pleazer once finished :)  Keep up the great work!

I could write a book about all the details and ways you can design a host, and all the possible variations in switches and components and layouts, I dont think I should have to do that though, its not exactly rocket science and Im not in the business of education.

You design something, I build it to your specs, pretty simple.

If you dont want to design something I am working on a few standard designs that I am going to produce from fully ready plug and play setups to mostly finished 'kits'.

The hosts shown arent finished yet, because I dont know what I am going to put inside them just yet, just because there isnt a hole in the side drilled for a button doesnt mean its some kind of issue.

Wow...I didn't mean to get your panties in a wad :-/

I just threw out a couple of thought provoking questions.  Sorry if they rubbed you the wrong way.  Oh yea, I belong to this forum to become educated on this hobby and how to have fun doing it.  Edit:  If you are that knowledgeable about building laser hosts then please share your thoughts.  The forum is here for members to learn and the only way to do that is for the "educated" to educate the less knowledgeable :)

Nice edit to save face. I hate trolls, and I hate trolls who edit their posts before they get quoted even worse. Playing the 'i just want to learn' card is so typical.

Thought provoking questions?

Oh please, you come into my thread and try to make it sound like there are all these unresolved issues that only can be worked out by someone with manufacturing experience because I didnt mention how the batteries connect to the driver or where a button hole will be drilled, and that I should buy a host to reverse engineer it and figure out how it works.

Go take your passive aggressive trolling somewhere else and dont bother posting here again, the only response you will get is me asking a moderator to clean up all the BS.

Ok great, the more precise measurements the better :)

If you draw on any CAD programs I can accept a number of cad file formats, DXF is good if you can export to that, though a dimensioned sketch works too.

Wow..."stfu".  I tried to ask some legitimate questions then get crapped on.  Sorry if I offended anyone.  I'm Done...

I dont have any AutoCad skills. I'll have to sketch it out and give you exact measurements.
Might get an animator to render it into 3d for me where I work, but that's if they have time.

Ah well once you figure out the dimensions I could do a 3d render for you to see how it looks rendered into a realistic background.
