561 is nice for experiments. That's a pretty strong one for a handheld. Most labbies I see generally are max of 50, typically only 5-20mW. Quite an odd color though!

As far as I know, this 561 is the highest powered handheld unit out there.

Interesting...you make stuff like that? Or just collect it? Curious now.

We're you asking me? I build guns and audio gear in addition to lasers. Lasers are the newest hobby I got into because it's something I could do here and there with little time involvement like the others. Audio stuff took hours outside I. The garage as did gun smithing. The lasers I could do in the kitchen while keeping tabs on the newborn. I still dabble in guns building some but not like I used to. Haven't touched an audio project for over two years since my daughter was born. I have about 10 partially finished projects just sitting in various closets. Amps, DACs, CDPs, speakers, etc...I really need to return to the Diyaudio.com forum and sell off most of my stuff. That's time consuming too and time is in short supply these days.

I understand. That's cool though. Maybe we can talk about it sometime. (elsewhere so we don't derail the thread)

Not a complete derail if I could sell off some of my junk and turn around and buy more of the OP's lasers:)

I really want to check out the 589 too so if you change your mind or decide to sell it down the road, please let me know. It was the one I was after first. I will settle for the 473 and 561 though. Especially the 561, green banana yellow is just too funky not to love. Wonder if this color could be obtained through mixing other colors easily? I've never seen a combined beam doing a color like this. Maybe red, green, with a little blue?

But sure, love to talk guns and DIY audio, they are passions of mine. Both can get quite expensive however, lasers are almost as fun and a little $$$ can go a long way for great entertainment.

PM me anytime. Better yet, email me through the forum.

Cheers!

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

Will do! I want a 561 for a fluorescence experiment, but it's not important. It's yeah kind of a mustard chartreuse like color. Ins not really yellow or green, kinda lost in the middle. I used to have a 589, but it met a sad fate a while back and I await rebuilding it sometime. Another reason I seek this handheld is for structure and comparison purposes. Might be able to make us all the first custom DPSS yellow!

If I didn't already have 568, I'd be getting that 561 in a heartbeat.

That is a killer deal for 50mW+ of 561! If anyone else here is a true wavelength hunter, getting that 561 places in you a very exclusive club of 3.

Just Saiyan.

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

I like wavelengths but... that color is ugly :/
In fact I don't think I like any colors between green and yellow.
But it is a VERY good deal for those that like that color.

I'd absolutely get the 589nm if it wasn't acting weak lately :( Might buy it if the price keeps dropping.

I'd also like to see an LPM of the 473nm. With the price drop I might get that one instead of the 589nm.

I do have a graph of the 473 up, just note there is a potential buyer for both the 473 and the 561 right now.

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

I was tempted by the 561 but the realist in me says I'd be buying it for nothing more than to have another number in my sig and to occasionally turn on. I'd not actually use it for anything as I'd be too scared of breaking it or having it taken off me by paranoid police, and a few months down the line it'd be one of those "I really shouldn't have bought that" moments. Been there, done that.

Also, the loose module inside puts me off. It'd be like buying a Ferrari with a constant knocking sound and half its gears missing, a right turn off for me. Not only that, but shipping overseas could be the final nail for it. I'm sure someone else will not be bothered by it though and will snag a great deal.

The 561 is probably best off being moved into a custom host. I dislike how the module is not put in tightly enough (and I can't get the head off in fear of messing more up).

But it's not terribly in the way, it only shifts when it gets an impact.

I sent jmillerdoc an email last night with similar advice about a new host for the 561.

The securing ring is likely just not snug.

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

Hey what is the effect of the beam being cut off on the 1W 660nm laser? Also, is it using a C-Mount diode? I may want to buy that from you I just want a little more detail first.

Thanks,
Isaac
