Perhaps a glass coating filters some of the UV output. I know that any of my greenies over 80mw with plastic optics will start to 'speckle' after a few hours accumulated use. I don't know if some of the coating is being ablated which causes the beam diffusion, or if the plastic itself is melting a bit. I suspect the former.

I went from ~83 mW to 93 mW when I went from glass to plastic.
It may be that the plastic screws in deeper and gathers more of the output from the die.

Does this unit work with rechargeable cr123a batteries at 4.2V each? Also what is the expected diode life at this output?

Yes it does and the expected diode life is years of operation. It is also now sold. thanks :)

Man daguin! You got the 260mW red Kenom barrel laser too didn't you? Those are some awesome custom lasers there! I'm jealous. I have a couple of those barrels ordered though...

He's going for 'prime time' alright. I've been seeing pictures of other people with those awesome barrels of yours Kenom. Total eye candy. I'm being patient though. Good things come to those who wait. Hope all that work is worth your while. I'm sure you've got about a hundred people just waiting for the next run...

I honestly don't know how many are waiting for the next run. I've only got about 30 orders so far so it's kinda touch and go. at this rate I'm sure folks are waiting for the first run to finish before they committ to a second run.
I know I would.

Well, so far, I'm in on both runs already. I think the last I read, the first run should be done soon huh? (this sale is done - no hijacking)

yeah. blue has already shipped me the drivers and they should be here in a week or so. I'm getting some folks lined up to help with the packaging and everyone will get some laser barrels within I'd say 2 weeks or so (depending on shipping time.)

The people in Bakersfield really liked my rocks at this years show. :D

Couple that with only teaching Monday/Wednesday classes this semester and I get to see many of the offerings quickly

I figure If I can get one hobby to pay for the another hobby, I'm way ahead of the game

Plus, this way if/when I screw up my first builds, I will still have toys ;)
