**THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR INQUIRIES.  THE LASERS ARE NOW SOLD.  I AM AWAITING PAYMENT ON ONE, BUT IT IS A GOOD MEMBER OF THE FORUM SO I DON'T SEE A PROBLEM.**

Hello All.  It's time to clean off the workbench again.  You know what that means, don't you?  Correct, good deals all around ;)
All but one of the lasers I'm offering for sale today are lasers I built doing host research.  Two were built to learn about the host so that I could help people build their own.  Two were built so I could figure out if they were the same as a similar host.  Two were built because I loved the name and the look.  One was built just because I thought it looked cool.  Finally one is just an old working pointer.

All of my builds go through a week of burn-in and testing before I offer them for sale.  You won't be "surprised" by one of my builds.

As always, I will entertain reasonable offers and trades.  Also, if you need me to hold onto it for a bit, I am usually willing to do so.  I am going to be "numbering" the lasers so when you PM me, please refer to the number.  That way I won't sell YOUR laser to someone else or ship you the wrong one ;)  All the prices below include priority shipping in the US and a set of batteries.

**************************************************************************

The first two lasers are built in the "new" side-switch MXDL host that Jayrob has started making heat sinks for.  They both have the Jayrob heat sink.  I built these to learn about them so I could help others.

Laser #1 is the laser that has been discussed in other threads where we are discussing how much brighter the "longer wavelength" diodes appear to the eye.  It has the DT-0811 diode in it.  It is being driven by a Rkcstr set at 100mA.  It is producing 70mW.  Although it is putting out 70mW, it "appears" to be brighter than its 150mW sibling.  It uses two 10440  batteries.  Laser #1 is being offered at $100

Laser #2 has the 803T diode being driven by a flexdrive at 165mA.  It is producing 150mW.  It uses three AAA batteries.  Laser #2 is being offered at $130

Here they are:

********************************************************************

The second two lasers are built using the golden version of the "heavier" MXDL host that Jayrob makes heat sinks for.  They both have the Jayrob heat sink.  They both have the 803T diode.  However, they are using different drivers.

Laser #3 has the Rckstr driver set at 175mA.  It is producing 165mW.  It is powered by three 10440's.  Laser #3 is being offered at $150.

Laser #4 has a flexdrive set at 185mA.  It is producing 170mW.  It uses three AAA batteries.  Laser #4 is being offered at $170.

***************************************************************************

The third two lasers were built using a new host.  I got these mostly because I really liked the name of them.  I simply liked the idea of having a laser that had the words "Sacred Fire"  on the side.  As a bonus, they ended up looking very nice.  I made custom heat sinks for them out of some aluminum parts salvaged from one of my larger pieces of equipment.  That's not really why the heat sinks are cool though.  The parts that I made the heat sinks for these out of are anodized black!  That means that the heat sink is as black as the body of the host.  They look really cool :)

Laser #5 is the NF-802V host.  It is 1/2 inch longer than its sibling.  It uses the flexdrive set at 150mA.  It is producing 130mW.  It uses three AAA batteries.  Laser #5 is being offered at $150.

Laser #6 is the NF-801V host.  It uses the flexdrive set at 170mA.  It is producing 160mW.  It uses three AAA batteries.  Laser #6 is being offered at $170.

Here they are:

Don't you just love that name? ;)

*******************************************************************

**RESERVED - AWAITING PAYMENT** Laser #7 is also in a new host.  I thought that this one just looked cool.  I also made a custom heat sink for this one.  It uses the flexdrive set at 190mA.  It is producing 175mW.  It uses a single protected 17670 battery.  The tail clicky on this one is recessed just a bit so that it can stand on its tail if you want.  Laser #7 is being offered at $190

Here it is:

********************************************************************

Laser #8 is just a standard DX type green pointer.  This was one of my "working" lasers.  I have replaced it with a more stable Pheonix.  This was originally sold as a 200mW laser.  We all know that is NOT true, but I got it for a good price at the time.  It starts out above 130mW, but immediately starts a slow slide in output.  At the end of 60 seconds it is producing about 60mW.  As a pointer, it works very well and is very bright because usually the pointer is only on for several seconds.  However, if you want to do long burns, this is not the laser for you.  It uses two AAA batteries.  Laser #8 is being offered at $75

Nice looking builds!
I especially like laser #7 with its protruding conical heat sink.
You sure are reasonable on your pricing :)

Thank you.  When I'm doing individual custom builds, my prices are significantly higher.  However, these were used by me for research.  They have already provided some value to me.  When I do a "clean off my bench" or a "clean out my drawer" sale, I give the community the opportunity to get a deal.  I have done it before.  If you stick around long enough, you may see another one of these sales.

Besides, I'm craving blue ;)

Peace,

Very nice lasers daguin, I really like the gold MXDLs just saw them on DX, wondered how long it would be before I saw them on the forums. :)

7 is also very clean looking, and old hid host?

Thanks

Re: FS:  8 Lasers Off The Bench

Just curious, what wavelength is the DT-0811?

As soon as you buy a spectrometer and measure it we'll know ;)

The best I could give you now is that it is 405nm +-10nm.

All I know is that it "appears" to be brighter than the 150mW laser built from the same host, with the same components.

FS:  8 Lasers Off The Bench - Only 3 Left

What?  The bottom of the page already?  This is an active forum.

Bump for the ones that weren't around last night

Only 3 of the 8 left

We did some wheelin' and dealin' last night, eh?

Those of you that paid last night, your lasers are on the way this afternoon.

Peace,
dave

Re: FS:  8 Lasers Off The Bench - Only 2 Left Now

And Then There Were Two . . . .

Alright folks. Only lasers 6 and 7 left.

I had someone ask if I could "turn down" the output of a laser.  If you are concerned about the high outputs I achieve, I can turn down the output of laser #7 for you.  Access to the driver in laser #6 is more restricted so this modification would be problematic.  However, Laser #6 is only set to 170mA.  I have lasers out there that have been used at this input current for a long time.

I run my personal blu-ray at 190mA I have one out there running at 200mA ;)

Re: FS:  8 Lasers Off The Bench - Only 2 Left

Hey,

What happened to the 320mw mistake you had, did it bite the dust or is it resting and waiting for a foggy night?

I will also chime in and say that 170ma shouldn't be a problem, I have had my BR set at 162 for a decent time, with a lot of use and it is still holding out well, I consider my current setting to be somewhat on the conservative side though.

Thanks

The 320mW blu-ray is still sitting on my credenza.  It is waiting for IgorT's lens.  If it is only going to shine once more, I want to see it as bright as possible ;)

Some 405nm diodes cannot take 170mA (although I believe these are in the minority).  That is true.  It is why I run my builds through "hell week."  If they are gong to fail at high currents, I want them to do so here so I can replace them with stronger diodes (and start their week over again).
