From what I've found, these diodes are rated for either 400, or 500 mw, not sure which as I've found both powers quoted on difference sources, but appears they are rated for that continuous but can be driven much harder to produce up to 2 watts output, but multimode, as mentioned before, and really need a beam expander to tame them well.

LOL, I saw a photo like that for one of those diodes more than a month ago, I thought that was the collimated output and since then was afraid of what I believed was terrible divergence, happy to now see I was wrong about what I was seeing. Although I would rather see the collimated beam shape on that same wall from some specific distance with a measurement of its size.
