Any way of adding a pot so these are adjustable?

I am willing to bet that would boost sales quite a bit. Selling them as kits could be another approach also.

I'll definitely be able to get one of these next month. This is exactly the type of driver I have been looking for [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

These are pretty cool, but I just don't know if I can justify doing all that soldering myself when Dr.Lava's Flexdrive2s are just $2.50 more, preassembled, can be grounded the case, and are adjustable to boot. Yes, I know these have super low working voltages, but any battery form-factor I end up using I can get a higher voltage version for, even button batteries.

The big problem with this is that it'll probably be a relatively small run, so the price per piece will be higher, which won't make it much of a bargain for buyers, and not earn you enough for your troubles either (which I think is important). If it were substantially less, like $10-$15 unassembled, I wouldn't mind getting one just to try some reflow techniques, but being only $2.50 less than the Flexdrive2, it just isn't that attractive.

I don't know which PCB company you're going through, but you can get $2.50/sq in PCB work done at BatchPCB. That's about 2 of those boards for $2.50. I've had a mind to try getting some fabbed myself.

These will be preassembled.

If you want a kit you can contact me.

As for pot, I am working on it but these resistors are current sensing resistors
I cant find current sensing pots (if they are even made)

That price for preassembled isn't too bad. For the pot, don't you need a high-side current sense amplifier or something? It'd end up increasing the price and complexity though, but allow you to unify the ground.

It would raise the price but not by much. The more made the cheaper.

My internet is out till wednesday so I doubt ill be on till then I am at the library now.

Toked,
You said that these drivers can only be used for the PHR803T because the case is neutral. Can I still use it for a red if I don't use ground for the negative connection?

Yes you can.

I have one in the works that can use standard ground but thats still in the works.

Well, any progress? I really need one of these... Will it be about the size of a Rckstr driver?

They are smaller than the rckstr drivers.

How big a deal is it to make some for a custom order current? Would you have to order different resistors?

These sound great! I have some small hosts that these could work perfectly for, and an old ps3 blu-ray diode too :).

Can someone please explain to me why these would only work for blu-ray though? I don't see whats all that different between the red diodes and the 405nm ones. I know they take different voltages (3 and 5 if I recall correctly) and different mA respond to different mW outputs but I don't see how this would make them all that different.

[highlight]They will be preset and can only be used with phr-803t diodes because
you cant use these case ground(perfect for 803t diodes).

So The body of the host can not be negative or case ground. That makes it ideal for the 803 diode, but in theory you could use it for any diode. However, you would have to insulate the diode from the host case with reds because the negative with the reds is reversed from the blue-rays. Thats how I understand it anyway.  :)
