So I just wanted to let everyone know... Got the laser today!:san:

It seems to be up to spec, I mean I don't have an LPM, but it produces a beam just as bright as the 1.2W O-like I have, maybe brighter, maybe dimmer, to be honest it's hard to tell, except to say that at aperture the beam of this laser seems thicker.

In terms of burning power, it burns through a DVD case just a little bit faster, so I'm guessing in terms of output it's as advertised or at least close.

Once it's dark outside I'll compare beams/visibility more.

A few questions;

Question about the charger - it makes a hissing noise when only one of the batteries is plugged into it... Is this normal?

Question about batteries - they look like unprotected 18650's in terms of size, with little soldered/glued on pieces of metal on them to add length... just want to know if they are protected or not.. either way is fine to me... plugged in a charged protected ultrafire to play with the laser for now.

Two questions about the goggles, what OD are they? Are they strictly for 445 or are they ok for 532nm as well?

Question about the laser itself - Host seems to heat up very quickly, at least A LOT faster than my other laser... I know in this design host acts as heat sink, but I just wanted to confirm what your experiences with it have been like?

So overall I just wanted to say to anyone else out there (I know Joe is still trying to sell a laser glove) I'm very happy with the purchase.

Shipping was super fast, packaging was good, and the laser is as advertised. <- Consider that my Positive feedback :)

answered the questions in the pm you sent me asking these same questions.

That's for the positive feedback

I really can't believe how fast this laser chews through batteries! It's insane! Can't wait to LPM it.

its already been LPM tested at 1498mw It's in the first pic, I don't think your going to get any higher of a reading, but hey if you can get an LPM give it a shot. If you test it post a pic of what it's reading if you can. How long does a battery? That's how little I used it I never even drained the battery. Those are really good batteries too.

I did order a Laserbee USB lpm last night, so I'll post a pic/results as soon as possible.

To be honest I didn't really pay attention, but it was just interesting to me, first night I had it, I plugged in a charged battery, played with it a lot, kept duty cycle at 100 seconds or so, was generally seeing what it could do.

When I went outside to see the beam... it died. I tried a couple more time to turn it on, it didn't work, so this had me kind of paranoid... Once I put in a fresh battery everything was fine though, and the laser is working perfectly. I just never had a laser drain a battery this fast.

Sorry for the extreme necropost but out of curiosity I decided to retest this laser.

I got a g1 lens recently and was messing around testing it out vs the standard aixiz lenses.

Incredibly when I plugged it into this ehgemus I got the highest reading ever from this laser.

When I tested previously results were always around 1200-1300mW. With a real g1 lens it peaked at 1408mW.

Did a couple of tests just to confirm with an aixiz lens. Results went back down to ~1250mW.

Unfortunately the only conclusion I can reach is that, knowingly or not, joeymutz ripped me off.

Live and learn I guess. I mean this was the first laser I ever bought on lpf, and that was only five months ago:eek:

I don't understand, how did he rip you off?

Edit: nevermind, I see now. Wrong lens.

I think he is saying he did not sell it to him with the G-1.

EDIT

I see you got it.;)

If the G-1 was from Jay the bottom facing the diode will have a gold looking lip on the bottom.

I thought he was talking about power. And a 200mW loss isn't too bad over a span of 5 months if it has a lot of use.

It doesn't have a gold looking lip on the bottom:mad:

Just PMed jayrob to pickup another g1 to put into this host. Pisses me off that I paid an extra $40 for nothing.

Original price for the laser, being advertised at 1.5W was $250.

Then he bumped it to $300 after your post mentioning the g1 lens. He took my offer $290 though.

I ordered LPM at the same time but it took forever to get to me from canada. So two-three weeks later I finally LPMed the laser, and was disappointed to see it doing only ~1250mW.

Contacted Joe. His reply was that I must have done something to the laser, and that's why it was underspec. At the time I didn't know better:banghead:

Considering the condition of the laser, he's certainly used it a lot more than he claimed as well. Again, never saw an ehgemus host first hand before, so didn't know better:(

The glasses that were sold with the laser were pretty scratched up and crappy.

The charger was practically falling apart.

Of the two 18650 "high quality" batteries, one is a complete dud. It's unprotected so i'm guessing at some point it was discharged too much.

Not a pleasant experience. I'd be happy to post or forward PM exchange to anyone who wants to read through it.

Initially I was only upset about the low power, the other crap I overlooked. The reason I posted again is that it turns out the low power was due to the wrong lens.

Small consolation though... in going through all my lenses/lasers I found out that two of the lasers I picked up from steviediezie are using g2 lenses.

Re: F/S Ehgemus build 1.5W LPM tested $250

Yep my post was first off to make sure everyone knew that that power reading was with a G-1 and to ask him if he was selling it with it. His reply down a little further seemed like he did not even know. But apparently I never checked back in on this thread after my first post as I would have asked him if it had a gold lip on the bottom. If I remember correctly he just send me the host body without a battery or lens so I never saw in person the lens he had for this unit.
