So in the middle of Feb. I ordered a few items from DX. I needed these items for parts and have been waiting patiently as usual for DX orders.

I contacted them and as usual, no response. So like most, I opened a dispute.

Shortly after opening the dispute, I get an email from DX stating that the money was refunded. Funny enough, I didnt get the confirmation from PayPal? odd...

So I logged into PP, only to see the case still open and no change in my PP balance.

Seems this may be a new trick to get the buyer to close the dispute without actually getting their money back.

Anyone dealing with DX, just a thought, DO NOT close any dispute until the cash has been placed in your account!

Obviously most of us wouldnt, but for the few who may....

BE CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH DEALEXTREME!

They must have had somthing going on becouse I also ordered something and after a month I started to enquire when they had sent it. Only 5 days after my letter they shipped the item, it arrived like 6 or 7 weeks after ordering.

Thats just it, I got the shipment notice after 3-4days from purchase, and tracking that did nothing.

I was under the assumption that it was on its way, but am now approaching 'last call' for a dispute.

So with the dispute open I got a fake refund email.

The item ordered could not be found on other sites, or I would have avoided DX from the start.

That's weird, Wannaburn. I usually have an order a month from DX, and apart from the usual Holiday & Chinese New Years delays, I get my shipments pretty fast. They even just sent me replacements for a wrong item sent. (albeit, with the usual photo proof hassle) I've been buying from them for years and my experience is they're actually getting better overall. As long as you can afford to wait, of course. They do seem to take orders and then wait for the vendor to supply the units they have orders for. Can't beat the prices though.

Sorry to hear you're not having luck with them. Just out of curiosity, how long did you wait until filing the PayPal dispute? I waited for a week for a reply re: my wrong shipped items. They always have a HUGE backlog after the Chinese New Years 10-day break, but patience has always paid off for me.

Cheers, CC

DX sells thousands of items worldwide. They are a re-seller. They don't make anything. They will often sell something that ends up not being available form the maker. It can sometimes take months to get something back-ordered from their supplier and then shipped to you.

I would posit that hundreds of members here have ordered thousands of items from DX over the years. On the whole, they are very good. They are sometimes slow and things get confused, but if you can "order it and forget it", they usually come through.

I have had over 100 orders from them myself. In that time, they have screwed up only once. Of course, once I also waited over four months for a back ordered module ;)

They are not trying to scam anyone. They are a Chinese re-seller. It is the nature of the beast

Peace,
dave

**EDIT**
Also notice that the "email" is NOT a PayPal notice of refund. Contact DX again to "remind" them of the refund.

Well I didn't throw in the term' scam' for a reason.. I have been ordering from them since 2007 and have spent mucho $$$ in that span. I am used to the wait, and have had only a handful of problems, but recently they seem to be slipping.

I emailed them 2 weeks ago, with no reply and only opened the dispute because its only a few days away till a charge-back will no longer be an option (45 days).

Another thing I found odd, is that the tracking they gave me states that the item was shipped 3 days PRIOR to my order date? Not sure what to make of this fiasco, but the parts I ordered have 4 separate projects on hold :(

Ive been sitting at the front door waiting for the mailman like a bored dog...

The items ordered did not show as back ordered as they still show as 'in stock'.
I think they may have sent this order without tracking all together. It used to be that all orders from DX required a signature, but recently with lower cost orders, 30-40$ they just show up and no sig is required.

I also ordered the 1400mA 7135 boards from them. Got those and all of them cant supply more than 500mA. I now have to scrap the boards and just keep the 7135 chips. Problem there is, the heatsinks they were going into were already fitted for the small round PCB's.

Gonna have to add 2010 as a really slow start.

So this issue was summed up. I filed the charge-back and in the meantime had yet to receive the refund payment DX claimed to have issued. The email they sent was just BS.

It was a lame attempt to get me to drop the dispute. I contacted paypal by phone and they claimed that this is a tactic that has been tried before by various vendors. Including DX, and was nothing new.

DX claimed they sent the package over a month and 1/2 ago. (shipment notice via email)

After PP awarded me the charge-back, DX promptly sent me an email stating that the order was canceled?

So which one was it? Seems they may not have shipped in the first place and tried to out right scam me out of my $$$.

Be very careful dealing with DX from here on out. Their customer service is worse than ever and they even now attempt to keep your money without shipping.

I have went back and looked at all the payments sent to the for purchases over the past 3 years, they have also found away to screw me out of the DX points they offer.

Dont waste your money, and buy your cheap China products from another seller...

Keep vigilant with your purchases, and the time frame of 45 days to open a dispute through paypal.

Ignoring an unreceived item and just waiting is not a good rule of thumb with this company anymore. They may even count on people not paying attention and openly scamming them.

I personally will not spend another cent with these f00ls. [/end rant]

Edit* Just for the record, there was NO back order on the items purchased. They sent a 'fulfillment' notice via email 3 days after payment. So what took 1.5 months and no delivery? The items were not 100mW lasers that would get caught in customs. The problem lies on their end.

I have since placed the same order from focalprice and also sourced the same item on ebay for the same price of DX..

My advice is strongly to look elsewhere before send any payment to DX.

Sorry to tell you this, but as far as your choice in going from DX to focalprice; you have gone from bad to terrible.
Focal price has the same tactics and about 9 times out of 10, they will send the wrong product when they finally get around to shipping it to you. Often they will send a cheaper version than what is ordered or an altogether different product. You know how to handle them and file your PP complaint before time limit. A different tactic they use is that when they send the wrong item, they will want you to pay the return shipping on the wrong item.
Also, even if it is the wrong item, paypal won't protect you and take your side of the dispute. Since it's outside the USA, they will only find in your favor if no package arrives as they will not find in your favor if the product is the wrong item or not as described.
When you have your issues with FP, go to Store Ratings & Reviews - ResellerRatings.com - Shop Safe & Avoid Scams and file a complaint/review there. Read some of the reviews, they will either be 1 star nightmare problems or 5 star (faked reviews, filed by FP employees. you will be able to tell then from an honest review).
Good luck

Hadnt thought of that one. Maybe its best to go with the guy I found on ebay. He is also overseas, but if the samples are good and I order bulk, I will have the protection of ebay as well.

I ordered some goggles from FP to try out, and they were shipped and landed much faster than any order from DX. So my initial impression was quite good.

Though I will tread lightly with them as well.. I did send them an email about bulk pricing, but they did not answer. Good thing I only ordered a few pieces.
