I want to buy a duck. Is there anyone near 94070? I am looking for any kind of duck (has to be cute though) but I prefer if it was a male and did not fly

What breed are you after? Also are you looking for a duckling? My suggestion is to get a Pekin duckling because they are the most domesticated and make better pets than the other breeds...they are the white ones. They can't fly either. It will be hard to get a duckling around this time of year though, most places only sell them in Spring.

Also, any reason why you are after a male duck? The hens are much calmer and make better pets.

When you finally have a duck, this site has some great info on raising pet ducks.

I have a duck I could ship to you... I recently hit it with my car and it suffered minor brain damage. It's OK though, he can still do everything a normal duck can do, he just needs some rehabilitation. I hit him with my 600 mW greenie in the eye and he went crazy, it was kind of funny. I then did it again and he went even crazier. This show didn't last long though, as now when I try to produce the same result, nothing happens! He's still tons of fun to play with though. One thing: he's an ugly black color. I can paint him blue and varnish him for free if you'd like. We'd have to use UPS ground because he can no longer fly (hey, that's one of your specifications!). I'm too afraid to check his/her gender. I refer to it as a he because it makes me feel like I have genuine male friends.

Yeah I was looking for a Pekin but the duckings become fully grown in 30 days.

I guess I can go for a female too but I heard the males have prettier feathers :)

The Pekin males and females look pretty much exactly the same, they are all white so there are only some very minor differences between them. In most breeds of ducks the males do look cooler, but none of those breeds will make such a good pet as a Pekin so the trade off is worth it IMO.

Pretty much all ducks are nearly full grown after 30 days, that's not just a characteristic of a Pekin. They aren't completely done growing till about a year though. Ducks are so much more fun as adults than ducklings because they don't require as much work and they can walk around with you without getting tired very easily.

If you want them to be a good pet you have to give them a lot of attention in their first month of life, especially in the first week. Let them follow you around and talk a lot around them so they imprint on that.

I am starting UC Davis next year. It is a very agriculture-y area but I will have to find someplace to keep him (or her) since I can't leave it in the dorm rooms :)

I love you

Do you really think that I would hit a duck with my car, shoot a blinding laser in it's eye, paint it and varnish it, and ground ship it to the OP? I'm a decent guy who wouldn't hurt a fly mammal. I am also extremely cautious with my lasers and will not use them when the people around me are not wearing proper eye protection.

& me.

Would you reely hate a person with a Burmese short hair kitty, a talkative cocketeille, a 6-inch pleco.

A Golden Retriever.

And 5 chickens.

Sorry, no rooster.

PS OOPs! Forgot the two LARGE rabbits!

Maybe the duck could be a mascot in the UC Davis animal husbandry dept. If you don't find out first though, you will have to give your friend away.

Bijan how bout you wait until next year during summer so you can bond with it all the time get in in the spring. It would make SO much more sense and you'd have a better connection.

I could watch it sometimes too :)
