Hey Kmiller 8,

I am very interested in one of these kits.

You said all I need is a module, would an Aixiz Module work?

Also, don't I also need a diode and a driver? Or do these kits come with those?

Thanks

(you can pm me if it is easier)

Well, These hosts are designed for Green DPSS modules, Aixiz modules are more for red and blue builds.

If you do get a green module, the module contains the diode and driver along with crystals and whatnot.

I can personally recommend nexbox360 to buy a module from, but he is currently out of stock. But you should be able to purchase a module from someone on the forums.

This is a green module:

I hope this answered your questions, if not, or if you want more clarification, just ask!

You perfectly answered my questions.

I am new to this forum, and new to building lasers (I am currently in a DIY build of a 405 nm 120mW BR laser) so your explaination helped lots.

I am still interested in buying a kit, but I think I will only buy one if I can find a reasonable priced Green DPSS module. I would buy from netbox 360, but as you said he is out.

Any other ideas where to get a module or what type of one (wavelength and power output) I could get being I am a beginner?

Thanks, your help is greatly appreciated!

O-like sells good quality green modules up to 150mW in power for fair prices, and they also have great customer service.

Good luck with the laser build.

Last I heard from nexbox, he was expecting his shipment sometime next week, maybe try contacting him and see what he says?

Any other ideas where to get a module or what type of one (wavelength and power output) I could get being I am a beginner?

Try asking in the B/S/T for a green module, I got a 30mw green (532nm) to start out with from the forums a month or two ago, just ask, or see if someone is selling. Power-wise, I'd say get the highest power module you can, because its hard as HECK to get the modules out of these hosts.

But if all else fails, you can order from china.

Ah, darn, bobhaha got one, well since they are selling like hotcakes...

SOLD!!!!! which ever one bobhaha didn't want I'll take the other color.

PM me your paypall details as well.

P.S. I am still looking around the B/S/T in LPF for a module, but I visited O-like's site and they are wanting $60 for a 100mW module.

Is that a fair price, or do you think I could get better here from a LPF member. Maybe even a higher output power?

I just want to make sure I am not getting taken advantage of.

Thanks for all of your guys help again.

Nope, thats a good price. You are paying for quality and most likely o-likes modules will be overspec so you are getting more mW for your $$. Also people will state their modules are >100mw for less than that price, but:

1) output power will not be >100mw or even equal to it
2) not all of the output will be green, IR leakage could skew the output power results.

Go with o-like, you wont be disappointed :D

Actually, for convenience sake I will just buy the black host... Also what are the OD rating on the glasses?

Hey Bobhaha, thanks for the advice on the o-likes. I'll probably buy a 100mW.

Since you are wanting the black host, I hope I can get the dark silver one (I actually want that one).

Since these glasses only block 190nm-540nm, and they don't block any IR radiation. Does anyone have any recommendations on IR blocking glasses?
I will be getting some cheep greens and I'd like to protect my eyes

thanks again everyone.

Also, I know rayfoss states these hosts as being waterproof, but are they actually waterproof?

It really isn't necessary to have IR blocking glasses for a green laser (assuming its working correctly). In a typical green laser you will experience 5-10% or IR leakage MAX!!!

That means for a 100mw laser, you will only get 5-10 mw of IR leakage max. But because the IR does not get colluminated like the green light does, it diverges very quickly and will be quite safe to handle. If you are still wanting to buy goggles to block the IR here is a link

I personally do not know the OD rating (I really wish I had a LPM...).
Here is a review someone did on the forums of them.

If you assemble it correctly, yes it's completely waterproof.
