Yeah, that ish is annoying. But at the same time, you don't go into business with the priority of offering people stuff at your cost or close to it or else you wind up on the street with hungry children and a wife you wouldn't touch with a 10-foot long row of shopping carts.

(EDIT: It was actually ABarnett who was inquiring about the NUGM01T a while back, that's why the following is worded this way, thought it was you, RedCowboy) You didn't want my NUGM01T for $160? I've hit over 1.4W with these open can, even with the 1 less bonded wires compared to the NDG7875.

So I'm assuming the NDB/NDGs are more for your home office commercial applications (i.e. - optical drives, projectors, etc) where the NUBM/NUGMs are for industrial apps such as cutting steel, engraving, paint removal, etc.. to me this explains why the NUBM/NUGM diodes seem to be able to take more of a beating as they would have to be more tough. The hottest diode I've run was the NUGM01T around 3A for a long period of time in a Sky Ray S-R5 host (run in this LED flashlight host for several months before I put it into an actual laser host which naturally have better heat sinking - more mass for the heat to snuggle with) without ANY noticeable degradation.. until I freakin shorted it.. *sigh.. But even running it at say 2.4A (1.3W to 1.4W) will get it hotter than a blue NUBM05T at 5.8A.

Little off topic, but I imagine it possible to purchase the CANs by themselves somewheres, and if so, how would one go about adhering it to the LD base? Is it just heat? If so, how much?

NOTE: All A140 diodes have been extracted from used equipment. All have been LPM tested to be sure they are still producing full output. I will replace any diode found to be defective.

I ran one of my NUBM05Ts to 8A last night on accident with Vlad's 6A driver.. lol.. scared the heck out of me when I realized how far I had it cranked over but surprisingly the damn thing lived! I attribute it to the ramp up being relatively slow, but it peaked and survived..crazy..

anyway, just blabbin.. now onto my question..

I don't think I saw any numbers for your NUBM47 test.. did you have peak numbers posted on your NUBM47-A1 thread? Also, what differences have you noticed over the NUBM44?

THE CAN HAS A TAPERED EDGE....what is it made for? It's not a optical coupling I don't think, but the idea has been bounced around, what can you tell me about that can? lol

The more I look at the lens on the 08 the more it looks like it's attached to a diode like the 44. I want to get my hands on one. That would be nice if they are good lenses and could just be attached right to a 44. But it's all speculation till we can see for ourselves.

I am kind of holding off to see what these 08e's are about, but I may use a pair of 06's.

Yup they work really well once you replumb them. When you run cold water through it the copper plate gets instantly cold. It should be able to handle maintain a low temp very easily

The can that matches the cans on the 08e block IS for fiber coupling. So your saying this could be a good thing Red?

In pretty sure its blue, but the coating doesn't look a blue diode spectrum AR. I would be interstate to look at the data sheet. The one I put up on here a month or two ago looked incomplete or possibly fake.

I think think those lenses are defiantly for fiber coupling. The block they are in is chamfered around the sockets like for pushing a fiber plug onto. It's definitely a projector light engine and RGB direct laser projectors use fibers to bundle the diodes.

I want to see what the divergence is, but looking at the output width of that lens suggest it may be better than the 44.

It's possible that they may be useful as is with corrective optics post can/lens.

I mean these are not really Gbals, so what....FiberCans?

Really the name doesn't matter, its the 08e, what matters is output at 90% of foldback and emitter divergence, and possibly what comes out of that new lens.
