Laser pointer recieved Dave! (125mw PHR pointer)

Only encounterd 2 little problems so far.

1. Back part of the host doesnt screw in good to the front part. (solved, using a diffrent back from another pointer, so not a real big deal cause the ' faulty '  back does kind of work on the other pointer.)

2. Back part of the host doesnt get proper contact since the batteries are so flat that the oval back doesnt get proper contact. (solved, using a little bit of alluminium foil) Now that im using the other backpart for the host that its not needed tough.



All in all im still verry satisfied with your product, with a bit of my DYI

Hmmmm. Maybe it just needed a little lubrication. A little dielectric grease sometimes helps. These cheap aluminum threads sometimes hang (and they are not precision ground)

Whenever, you switch over to case negative in any of these types of pointers you have to be aware of the lack of the little "nub" going into the rear of the tube. The rear of the tube (or the tail cap) is actually concave to handle it. Sometimes the end of the battery sticks out enough. Sometimes it doesn't. This is usually caused by the insulation "wrapping" around the end of the battery a bit. If the insulation doesn't allow contact, you can simply cut a very small bit of the insulation away from the end of the battery. Sometimes the spring length is a bit off. In those cases I just place a small rare earth magnet in the tail.

Aluminum foil will work. I usually just cut off a small strip of the insulation.

That ah, puts the two of you way ahead of O-Like who's [for the time being] way ahead of DX, who's, amazingly enough, ahead of err.... IgorT...  


So much for getting it to me; I'd also like to thank you for the professional packaging (again tied with JayRob) and the instructions (-1pt. 'cause JayRob's were in color...   ;D) But no worries, you get that point right back (& then some!) for including those complimentary 10440s* for the BR... "Dave's da maaan - Dave's da maaan - Dave's the..."  


Oh and lest I forget... the complimentary fluorescing twinkle-twinkle-little-star, how-unbelievably-bright-you-freakin'-are... under 405nm, that is...


The only "that's a negatory, 10-4..." remark I have about these is not for the professor, but for these ultra-popular Newish hosts; they do have an attractive matte-alu finish with a reasonable "aperture" (head) but the button & clip are both cheezy chrome-plated deals and when the two sections of the host are properly screwed together, the button and clip don't align (nor do they even come close  :).


I realize that for you DIYers that need tons of functionally-good-but-inexpensive hosts for your a la Mr. Hyde laser experiments that my caveats are irrelevant, but for non-DIYer laser "collectors" like myself, these are not particularly stylin' hosts. Compared to my matte-black leadlight, the Newish looses out biiig-time.


Last but [definitely] not least, I guess that I should also mention that both arrived in perfect working condition, right...     ;D

*P.S.... didn't even know there were 10440s...   I'm assuming my Ultrafire charger can charge these 3.6V puppies...  :-/

I'm pleased that they made it unmolested.  Your Ultrafire charger will charge the 10440's just fine.  You NEED the voltage of the 10440's to power the laser.  Regular AAA's won't do it

With a "pocket" pen-style laser you don't actually want the clip and the button to line up.  If the clip and the button line up then the button is facing "forward" in your pocket (if clipped).  With the button facing forward it is much more likely that it will be pushed in your pocket without your knowing it (at least until it begins to heat up).

:-/  Hmmmmm . . . . . . . . relatively flexible . . . . . . . .  :-?

It has fine, insulated, solid-copper wires.  You can easily bend them.  However, if you repeatedly bend them, the copper will fatigue and break.

Does that answer the question?

This sale is almost done.  There are only two 200mW 6X lasers and two >100mW PHR lasers left along with the four red burner modules

#6  I have [highlight]ONE[/highlight] of these.  This is the original Kryton Smooth.  These barrels are becoming very rare.  
It has the 6X diode being driven by a Rkcstr driver.  It is powered by two, RCR123 type batteries.  
Two batteries will be included with the laser.  It is putting out 200mW.  It will come with a storage/carrying case.  
It is offered here at $200.




 
#9  I have [highlight]TWO[/highlight] of this laser.  These have the PHR-803T diode being driven by a Rkcstr.  
They use two, 10440 batteries.  Batteries will be included.  They are putting out 115mW, and 110mW.  
They are offered here for $105 EACH






#13  To quiet the MANY PM's about if I will offer these again, I am offering my 250mW red burner modules again.  
They have either the long open can or the long closed can diode.  They are being driven by a Rkcstr.  They are in an AixiZ module.  
They will need 6V-12V of power.  I have 10 9 8 7 6 5 [highlight]FOUR[/highlight] on hand and 10 more drivers on the way (hopefully soon).

Seriously, I had to spend like 3 whole minutes ploughing through your bubble wrap to get to the laser. Not a scratch though, so I can't fault it ;D nice carry case too.

This laser is pretty awesome! I can see the beam even with three 60w bulbs on in the room. Burnt the shit out of a piece of wood instantly! Using 18650 is a big cherry on the top, what with me having 5 of them and a charger already - I wish they'd replace AA batteries worldwide already.

I might try to cut and attach the rubber you sent me for the sides. Is it just a case of measure, cut, put small amount of glue in the grooves, then push the rubber in?

You shouldn't even need glue. They will be a nice, tight, friction fit. Use a "dull" (maybe "soft" like wood or plastic) tool to push them in with. A slip here will give you a perpendicular scratch on the barrel.

Don't ask me how I know that :-[
