I am interested in item #3, "un-anodized Kryton Groove, 6x, 200mW".
1: Where is the on/off button?
2: Focusing, does the white casing that looks separate adjust focus, or is it a bit more fiddly by having to reach in a bit?
3: What's the duty cycle like?
4: How much to ship it to the UK?
Just noticed that it isn't the actual picture, I'll wait till that goes up ;)
Thanks :)

I've updated the pics above, but I'll re-post them here for you as well.

The on/off is a tail switch.  It is a constant on/off clicky switch.  You click it on.  You click it off.  The switch cover on this laser is "glow-in-the-dark" material
<image>

The lens is the black part you can see.  It is recessed, but easily accessible.
<image>

We haven't really developed a "duty cycle" for these yet.  To be safe you should limit it to a couple of minutes, but it is probably longer.  The violet diode doesn't generate the kinds of heat that a green or a red do.  Also, the Kryton is an excellent heat sink.  The design make the entire body part of the heat sink!  I wouldn't switch it on and walk away or try to use it like a lab style laser, but I also don't worry about it too much with my own laser.

Flat rate Priority will cost you an additional $13

I'll ship it with the black rubber strips in a separate bag.  You can decide if you like them or not.  I don't have them in my personal Krytons.

Peace,
dave
Thanks for the reply :)

So, $240 + $13 = $253, going by www.xe.net, £173.56 (might as well call that £175)... damn tempted :) I will think some more.

hahahaha. dave, would you mind putting me somewhere in your will, just put a line saying "upon the likely chance that i died from having too many lasers, I hereby give all my lasers, argons, HeNe, pens, RPLS, pocket minis, blu-rays, greenies and the like, to mr. SwordofSAlvation on lpf forums"

Thanks Dave. BTW, where do you get all the dust caps from? They look familiar.

Re: daguin's Penultimate Sale

Excerpt of recent PM...
----------------------

Hi Professor,

I'll take the "More is less" (#10) & the Newish OEM (#11) since I don't own any Newish (...just Leadlight-ish ;))

I'll be glad to own some of your handywork too - my collection will then consist of some IgorT, some JayRob, some Kenom, some Rkcstr and of course, some Professor D. too ... just need some Dr. Lava to round it all off...  :cool:

Let me know if my PM's "JiT" or if we have to revise my order...  :-/

Thx & cheers from Vienna 8^)

------------

#10   This is a lower powered violet laser.  I am very pleased to see that people are discovering how much fun these lower powered units can be.  They are great "pointers."  However, they are even better than high powered units for seeing fluorescence AND they can still burn when focused correctly!  It is in the same silver, Newish style host as #9.  It has the SF-AD112 diode being driven by a Rkcstr.  It uses two 10440's.  Batteries are included.  It is putting out 35mW.  It is offered here for $75

#11  There are four three TWO ONE (now  :p) of these lasers. ... offered here for $20 EACH

They are "clicky" switch covers from DX. You have to cut off the little "nub" inside.

They are set up case negative.  If you are going to place them into a grounded host, you don't even need to use the negative wire

I'll let the others know that three of these are available.

dave

Re: daguin's Penultimate Sale

I found some more carrying/storage cases last night.  I have added a storage/carrying case to the Cree pocket mini's (#5)
