Looks like I finally found a bunch. I even found a roughed up 2110U like mine. Dunno why they weren't coming up before. Lots of choices!

Out of the three I've seen you link to they are all compatible with your head. However, seems they are all sold AS-IS. I'd probably go with whatever one looks to be in the best condition and/or is newer (assuming you can see the Mfg. Date on the label). They are pretty tough PSUs so chances are all three of those are working just fine.

Ideally you'd get something tested but they are harder to come by on eBay - someone on PL will have something that's tested.

agreed. I have yet to run into one that's dead. they're fairly good unlike the omnichrome supplies, which are in their own right not bad, but I did have one of those make a nasty pop at one point, and never fixed it. but I suspect its not due to design but due to the key switch breaking, which would've messed up the circuitry. The little air cooled ion lasers are pretty tough cookies unlike the big water cooled beasts that are unhappy if you so much as look at them the wrong way. and don't get me started on HeCd and HeSe lasers...as amazing as they are, they're complex and picky as all flying [censored] can be. :mad:

I purchased a PSU and fan today! All I need now is a proper controller, though I suppose a few wires can work for now. I decided to buy the PSU with the newest manufacturing date (2006.) The cord to connect to it is the same as the one to my Chauvet Hurricane 700 fog machine, right? Is it 'the' standard 120vac cord? As one does not appear to be included.

no. its the AC plug that has all the pins horizontal. a 15A C19/C20, its not the one that's on stuff like PCs, which use a C13/C14

Are you sure? It looks to me that this one has all the pins vertical.

Yeah it has a different plug than mine. Mine has the c20 on it. Which is technically meant for a 16A device. The C14 is meant for 10A, and the one that is similar, but with one of the blades sideways, (I forget the number) is for 20A by standard. But all of them are technically interchangeable with no ill effects. It's just to help keep people from plugging something into a receptacle meant for something else to avoid blowing breakers/fuses. The c20 is often on big server rack assemblies. If you need a cable I got tons.

More of a minimum spec for the IEC ratings. C13/14 for example is rated at "10A" going by the spec - but there are plenty of C13/14 cables/plugs/sockets what have you that are rated for 15A. Same goes for the C19/20/21/22 plugs and sockets you get on rack PDUs and the like - loads of them are rated 20A. Any rack PDU I've seen use them uses the 20A connectors, not 16A.

Are you confusing IEC plugs for NEMA plugs used in North America? All of the IEC plugs that I've ever seen have all of the pins either vertical or horizontal - not two horizontal and one vertical or some such. However, 20A NEMA sockets/plugs have one pin rotated 90 degrees from the others.

Yeah I think I am. That is the one I was thinking of. My white light normally comes with one of those, but I use a different cable.

Can build one for probably <$15 in parts - not anywhere near as functional as the 2500 though - that'll be nice. Always fancied one of those. A pot, enclosure and a couple wires with a multimeter for current readout works on a budget. :p

Looking forward to an update!

fun times! be sure to share in the gas section! if you need cleaning details, I have a tutorial posted for checking your hour count and cleaning the front of the head if it needs it. these tend to never need cleaning or much extra attention, they're pretty tough cookies.

Thanks Kaiser. At this point, my main fear is that the laser head will just not work, because I bought it for just $33.15 and the last time passed an inspection was 2008. Do they usually work after sitting for an extended period of time?

It's difficult to say just how long it has been sitting. To be sure, it is less than the last time it was inspected. Still, without knowing if it had a bad injury, you will have to wait to see. Wasn't it sold as is? Worse case you didn't spend much for it, so if you need to buy another you should at least be ready to try it when it arrives.
