Can someone work on my laser for me?

So, I attached a PHR to a Groove Driver, but I can't get it to light matches. I got it to smoke one a little bit, but that's all. I accidentally had it set on the 100-500mA range, but it somehow didn't burn out...I'd like someone to test the driver, and the diode, if they could, and get it to about 150mA. Who can do that, and for how much? I'm not willing to spend very much...

Do you have goggles? I can light a match with 35mW of violet laser light. Maybe it just isn't getting focused all the way.

No, 150. That's about how much I'm running my other PHR at, with duty cycles of less than 30 seconds, and it's fine. Besides, it's my PHR. If it burns out, I'll replace it and set it down to 120mA or so. And I don't have goggles. And here's a couple of pictures:

BG -- Do you have a DMM ???? If you have one, you can set the current yourself.
If you don't have a DMM, You can get one for the price of shipping etc of your build.

DMM? And the Groove Driver manual just says to use my multi-meter, since it's not a boost driver, but I don't think my multi-meter measures current right...

Buy goggles good sir! Buy them for they are far cheaper than a new set of eyes!

Plus, if you're not willing to spend a lot, you might consider turning down the current or just using a higher power diode.

You'll end up buying a new diode regardless if you set it to 150.

The PHRs have been extra inconsistent lately in my opinion.

Actually you can read current on that directly on the 1ohm resistor. That's the really big one. Take your Dmm and set it to milivolts. 1mv = 1ma So your going to adjust it till it reads 150mv

Without a load?

Use a dummy load so you don't risk messing up your PHR. Also, get goggles as daguin said. It'll make focusing easier & will protect your eyes.

Edit: DMM = Digital Multi Meter, so yeah use yours to set it :p

So, whether I have the driver set to high or low range, my DMM won't measure more than about 105mV. So, I wired up the driver wrong...somehow...But I have no clue how...or I accidentally broke a part of the board (which I think I did...). But even at 100mv, it still won't light a match. I've tried two Sure module acrylic lenses, and one Aixiz acrylic.

How do you think you broke the board or what is broke ?

I kind of semi-clipped-but-mostly-pulled the jumper, and kind of ripped off the ring that leads to the pot, but I think I checked it it with my multi-meter and it said there was a connection...*Checks it again*
