Hey guys,

I was browsing Google and found this forum. Thought I might try getting a bargain from a member here on a 300mW Red Laser. I'm going to be honest, I just want to burn shit with it. No, I'm not a crazy or some sadistic pyro-freak, I just think it's cool and I'm sure some might agree with me. I only plan on burning paper and showing friends.

I also realize that I'm extremely new to this forum. For that reason, I understand if you don't want to do a transaction with me. I can show you positive reviews on transactions with other users via other forums.

I think all is said and done. If you have what I'm looking for post here and a price/PM.

Get a dilda style red laser from o-like, some rcr123a 3.6v or 3.7v lithium cells to replace the 3.0v ones, and use a more strict duty cycle. I have 3.7v cells in my dilda and if you watch the duty cycle its a very good burner (not that it doesn't burn good with the 3v cells it comes with). Just make sure you get some safety glasses. <important

Honestly, I don't know anything about building lasers. If I did that would be awesome, but I don't. Is it difficult to learn?

It definitely takes time to learn. But it sounds like you just want to have fun with it so I recommend buying a dilda from o-like as I said before and some 3.6v rcr123a batteries+charger and you NEED some safety goggles with that.

Could i ask what duty cycle you're using for that red dilda? Thanks

I just did 2 sets of 60 seconds on, 60 seconds off, batteries and laser barely warmed up. Dot brightness never changed either.

I'm using 3.6v juice brand rechargeables in it atm.

Actually, after digging up some old threads the batteries may not increase the output as they used to.

Either way, just buy a dilda man. It will burn stuff.

Well I just found out you can't own one above 5mW here in the U.S. I'm guessing no one here is from the U.S.?

Oh, wow. I'm an idiot. I just assumed that people would have "Under the couch" or "Behind you", like it typically is on forums. Hmmph, well if I buy a dilda will it be seized? I just read about that happening on shipments from China on DealExtreme lasers.

You should be able to do the same with the o-like or rayfoss dildas, but be forewarned it takes practice to find the focal point like that... and to get results at that distance.

Unfortunately for any kind of burning, goggles are pretty much a prerequisite. The dot from the laser beam hitting whatever it is you're burning will be too bright... and from close up exposure could/will do damage. Regular sunglasses won't do.

Haha, and I'm guessing closing your eyes real tight won't do the trick? Looks like I'll have to buy myself a pair of heavy-duty goggles.

No... that wouldn't work. Just a heads up to you... goggles need to be specific to the wavelength laser that you are using.

This is a good company for goggles http: //www.dragonlasers.com/catalog/Laser-Safety-price0-p-1-c-296.html

You can find cheaper goggles... but you get what you pay for.

Haha great, thanks. Well just checking, I need to be wearing these whenever I use the laser, even if I'm not shining it at anything except the night sky?
