Hey. I am interested in buying some aluminium powder :) I've made this topic on LPF because i thought that all the people who make heatsinks, get some aluminium powder leftover when making alu heatsinks. (Correct me if i am wrong)
it's not something i'm willing to pay loads for, but i will pay shipping + couple of bucks :)

Note: I only need it if it is very fine; Not smaller chunks, but like powder.

I hope there's some nice people one LPF! ;D

You're going to make flash powder? :D

You can find it on Ebay for pretty cheap, and the powder sold there is often really fine. I speak from personal experience. :cool:

Aluminum from milling is not going to be usable in most fireworks. It will be useless in flash, and for things like waterfalls you will need at LEAST 30 mesh. This powder would probably even be useless for glitter stars.

There's a seller who has Al powder with a grain size that's around the same as flour ! :D that's probably the finest you'll find .

if your under 18 you shouldnt be making thermite in the first place..

if it melts through a car engine block , imagine what would happen if you light it in the wrong place..

or you can just ignore what im saying ant try lighting it in your living room on a soda can ...

I started my eBay account when I was 10. I'm 16 now and buy stuff off eBay all of the time and nothing bad has ever happened.

@Areanred

I'm highly aware of security on such things. Couple of years ago it almost went wrong, luckily it didn't.

But yes, i know it's highly dangerous, and i will take care.

It's very hot, why would you not care with such things? I'll say fireworks is more dangerous though, it can fly everywhere. :)

The stuff on ebay is FAR finer than flour. Flour is like 300-400 mesh. The Al powder I bought is 3 micron which is around 4800 mesh theoretically (as you can't make a wire mesh this small :p ). It's the finest powder I've ever seen. According to this chart it's as fine as cigarette smoke. I believe it. This stuff will easily float away into nothing :eek:

WOW :)

I think that is to fine if it flys away easily! What did you use it for, and did it work great?

Well for these applications the finer the better :cool: I used it for flash powder. It sure does work great ;D This video is particularly great because it shows the power of the blast knocking over my camera lol ;D ;D
