I have to make a public apology to kaphn8d since he was the second in line for the 589 laser, unfortunately I didn't get a pm back and since I am really in need of selling the lasers I contacted the third in line for the laser and by the time kap got back with the pm the laser was already paied for.

Again I apologize for this, I usually always respect the order I get on my PMs. I hope in your understanding.

Apology accepted, norbyx. I've made bad calls before as I think we all have. I just had my hopes up. I'm glad you are getting your money issues sorted. Have a great week, buddy.

I have to make a public apology to kaphn8d

oops. now i feel doubly bad: once for buying it from norb because i feel bad he feels he has to sell them and i know how much that yellow means to him and two because i beat out KapHn8d because of a technicality.

well its going to a good home for now. you know how lasers are - they trade hands like playing cards. ;)

CNI PGL-III-C-589nm 120mw arrived at my door working and looking great! +1 rep to norb! thanks.

on my kenometer pro w/Lumen OS and Ophir, I got 94mW avg, 107mW peak.

It is probably less due to temperatures being colder where you are whereas norbyx was in costa rica.

I think it is more to do with inaccuracies between LPMs. I would take my readings as more accurate as my Ophir has been calibrated and matches my friends Coherent which has also been calibrated.

Typically with these kinds of DPSS lasers, they have a band of temperature where they operate at peak efficiency - cooler or warmer drops the output usually. so I don't think climate is going to have much of an effect unless you are doing the measurements in an environment that is well outside typical room temps.

What a pretty colour 589nm is!

Well I had a very busy week and just corrected the mistake on the 473. As for the power difference test the laser several times I have had different results from one time to another and heat does affect it. If you test it cold start you get a result if you cycle it a couple times 60sec on 60 off. You will see that the results change, to me most of the times they rise the peak. Anyhow also consider a 10% difference in the LPM since they could be off a little, and 120 peak vs. 107 peak is not much of a difference...

Agreed. 120 vs 107 is not much a difference at all.

I think if you are going to use a TEC LPM you have to accept that its not going to be as accurate as an Ophir based LPM if they are both calibrated or close to calibrated. just like a hobbiest LPM is not going to be as accurate as a pro lab LPM, again assuming they are both calibrated. these are generalizations of course and it is possible to have a TEC LPM be more accurate than a pro lab LPM depending on how well they are both calibrated. Our hobbiest LPM's are going to give a ball park reading for the power output so your 120 vs my 107 is in the same ball park as far as i am concerned. Just wanted to mention all this so people understand that the LPM readings we get are just ball park approximates.
