There were more people on the fence than I expected. All my barrels are now accounted for (except for one answer from one person).

I am going to close this out.

If the one person decides NOT to follow through, I will re-post that one barrel for sale

Peace,
dave

As the oracle said, "Everything that has a beginning, has an end."

My very limited supply of these barrels is almost at an end.

I only have a couple left (and I'm thinking about keeping one for when the cost of the high powered 635nm diodes comes down a bit)

If you have been "on the fence" now would be the time to act.

Peace,
dave

5/20/11 -- The switch issue has been solved. These are available again

I had some time at the end of last week. I sat down to make a few lasers.

They come in the now famous Kryton Groove. The Kryton Groove has a direct press diode pocket so the heat transfer to the body is excellent. They have a 445nm diode. They have a MicroBoost drive. They have an Aixiz 445nm glass lens. They come with a focus ring so you will not burn your fingers. I will include a quality 18650 battery.

These are set to 800-900mW with the AixiZ lens to ensure a long healthy lifespan. If you pick up a 405-G-1 lens, these will easily exceed 1W in output.

They are $185, shipped in the US. International shipping will be extra

If you are looking to have a violet (405nm) or red (660nm) in one of these Krytons, just pop me a PM. We'll work it out ;)

Peace,
dave

Re: FS: Kryton Groove 445nm Lasers

Dave, I got mine today. This is a great piece! Very well built & this host seems to be exceptional at heat sinking.

I have a question for you on the battery. I have several AW R18650 2600mah batteries. I assume they're the same as the battery that you sent with the Kryton Groove, but my multimeter shows they have a 4.1V charge while the red 18650 you sent measures 3.8v. Its a nominal voltage difference, but I want to be sure if I use my batts that they won't hurt this sweet laser.

Thanks!

They will be fine. The driver can take 2.5V-5.5V,

Re: FS: Kryton Groove 445nm Lasers

I was just wondering whats the difference between this build and the Ehgemus other than the obvious $100 price gap... and leave out the power difference for the moment as we all know its all using the same diode

You will have to link me to the build in question. Ehgemus makes a lot of hosts. Many members use his hosts. I do not know what I am comparing this too

Oh I just assumed there was only 1 ehgemus host that a few LPG members are currently selling at the moment... It looks very similar to what you are selling... Both stainless steel

I am sure that both of them are aluminum. Steel is MUCH harder to work with ;) If you find a link for me, post it. I can then explain the differences between them.

Ehgemus has several variations of the hosts he makes. He will also, produce a custom one from time-to-time. I have had him make several for me.

However, generally, the hosts themselves are very much alike. They differ in switch used, direct-press vs. AixiZ type module, the way the head attaches. The core differences would be if the person making the Ehgemus build used a different diode, driver, and/or power source

Re: FS: Kryton Groove 445nm Lasers

Oh yes sorry its aluminum... the ehgemus build i was comparing with is actually the 1 thats is currently on sale on LPF... from the way i see it, there is no difference in lens. and if production of the way the host is made has such a big price gap then i suppose this host is a good one.. since its able to run cost lower.
Not much of a point to compare the initial cost actually, cause the present ehgemus host on sale is being sold by 2nd hand users.

Re: FS: Temporary Hold on These Kryton Groove 445nm Lasers

I'M STOPPING THE SALE OF THESE FOR NOW.
THE SWITCHES THAT WERE SUPPLIED ARE PROVING TO BE INADEQUATE FOR USE AT THE HIGHER CURRENTS THAT THE 445NM DIODES REQUIRE

WE ARE WORKING ON A SOLUTION

I'LL POST AGAIN WHEN WE FIGURE OUT A WORK AROUND

Peace,
dave
