You have to be VERY PATIENT with IgorT. You have no idea how busy he actually is.

Well before joining LPF i thought he was ignoring me or something, lol
Then i started reading through his posts and projects, and wow, he is a MACHINE! The research he is doing for all of us in the site is priceless!
Igor I know that we all are driving you crazy! Dont go changing Take your time, patience is a virtue

To add I know you are trying to balance our laser addictions with your actual work, and it is logical that work stacks up So trust me, I will not misunderstand (and I'm new! So I am sure that the older members share the same feelings)

I am so sorry, and i have to apologize to you and anyone else who is still waiting for a reply from me... :angel:

I get so many requests for help, questions, and orders every day, that simply answering everyone in detail is a FULL TIME JOB!
And i'm not kidding! I spent several days doing NOTHING but answering emails and PMs! :undecided:

At the same time i had to get a bunch of work done, real work, laser work, and prepare the Torture Chamber for the 8x Murder Experiment...

I had no other choice, but to go offline, and work my ass off, even so it took me several days and nights just to get the torture chamber up and running, and even longer to prepare everything else.... I'm just now starting to clean up the emails that piled up in the meanwhile.. At first i asked everyone to rerout the more important messages to PMs, but that only resulted in the PMs getting clogged up!


During the last couple of weeks i only managed to follow this and the 8x Murder Experiment thread.... Luckily, now i only have a little more work to do over this weekend, then, starting from Monday morning, i'll probably spend the entire week just answering old emails and PMs, that piled up while i was offline...


In any case, i am very glad that you understand that i wasn't ignoring you (or anyone else for that matter), i was simply trying to get it all done in a way that didn't involve my brain exploding..


I'll get to your and all the other emails/PMs as soon as humanly possible.
But yes, it's true, when dealing with me, some patience is required for the already mentioned reasons..


I am however available on Skype (for text chat) where anyone can reach me almost instantly (if i'm awake). Just add me to your contacts list, the info is in my profile, and i'll see you and answer as soon as i'm around the computer, often immediatelly.


I just hope that this won't result in Skype overflowing as well... :angel:
I really need a secretary to answer my emails or something (or maybe i need to learn how to write shorter replies)...

Somehow i also miscalculated, in an attempt to make the diodes as safe as possible, i managed to make both packages go over 20g - even the one with diode only... :angel:

Well, the slip must be this package, i hope you went to pick it up today, so you can play over the weekend! :evil:

But even when you'll have it in your hands, you still won't know how it feels to have 13 8x diodes and still not a single personal 8x laser! :cryyy:
Luckily, it just so happens, that i made "too many" drivers by mistake (for the first time in history), and can make me an 8x in minutes...

Since you're making your own laser, you actually NEED the PIV plot up front, to decide what current to use!
I'll go make it right away! I'll send it to your email, ok?

Same goes for T_Warne, i'll make both now, and send via email. Two plots per diode in this case...

Krutz: I extrapolated the data for your diode up to 360mA, since i don't know how much of a risk you're willing to take, thought you might want to know what it would get you....

EDIT: I made two plots for both of you, each of the two separate plots showing two data sets.
The first is a classic PIV plot, the second a Po/Pe & Efficiency plot.

I arranged it so, that i will finally have some time as of Tuesday...

Had to stay up most of last week and go do a big installation at my main real work customer over the weekend, as well as move some deadlines around a "little", but...

...this means that i can now prepare the drivers for the 8x batch! :yh:


But i do also need to get all the messages that piled up while i was working around the clock under control... :undecided:


Hopefully i can get it both sorted out this coming week..

I just sent everyone your individual diode plots to your emails in the "Order Summary" row.

Those of you who have already decided on the current/power they want (pick it from your plots), please let me know so i can complete your builds.

A few want to wait for the second 8x Murder Candidate to die before they reach a final decision (to see if higher currents are safe). The decision is up to you guys.

Ok, the 8x lasers go out in an Express package to California Monday morning (which counts as Friday evening for TNT).

They will be reshipped from California by Scopeguy with Priority to individual owners.


I'm assembling them according to everyone's Order Summary Requests, IF there are any changes, please let me know in the Order Summary email row.


Please follow the 8x Murder Experiment for an estimate of diode lifetime at different currents.

So far we got 160h at 300mA and 20h at 348mA, with both diodes still alive.


I can accept current changes till tomorrow, Sunday the latest.
