8X diode in module (damaged)

I have had this diode in a MXDL Jayrob kit for the last couple of months. It started out strong but then lost power due to the missing window. The diode works but the window is missing. This has caused atmospheric particles to collect on the die. I recently cleaned the die off and the diode went back to it's normal power. If you buy this diode you can expect it to put out 400-500mW with a good lens but you should also expect it to lose power gradually with use. You can fix this like I did by cleaning the die. If you are interested in a cheap 8X to experiment with then this is a good diode for you. If you want a top of the line 8X then look elsewhere.

I am asking $65 shipped for this diode in module with an aixiz 405nm glass lens.

Flex drive should be fine up to 320mA or so if Vf is below 6V.

Yobresal: You may want to press the diode in completely. It will make the module more suitable for the 405-G-1 lens, should a buyer choose to use one.
It's also better for heat-sinking.

Thanks for the tip, it is currently flush with the back of the module. I have used it with a 405-G-1 lens and it works properly. Maybe I will press it in all the way past flush.
@ potato you can use a flex, a rkcstr, DDL or anything else that puts out the right amount of current and voltage.

How often do you need to clean the die? and how difficult is it to clean the die?

Okay, I got it pressed past flush now. You can use a few small strands of microfiber cloth rolled together and make sure you only brush it over the die. At least that is what I did and it worked for me. Perhaps you could ask an expert like LSRFAQ for a better answer.

I guess the appropriate answer would be whenever you see a noticable decrease in output power.

Also I will include an aixiz 405nm glass lens with this instead of the acrylic.

Why would it be a problem for this and not really affect an open can red? (Idk, thinking out loud here). I'd take it if I had a lil extra $$, so, maybe in a week or two if it's not taken by then (don't hold it for me).

I don't know why. I wouldn't have expected it either until I witnessed it happen slowly over a couple months of lite use.
