i have a new mxdl laser using a rkcstr driver at 500ma that should be around 300mw...it comes with 2 new 10440 batts the heatsink is made by me and real thick for great heatsinking  :cool:

Do you're heatsinks REALLY need to be that big ::)
It would be cool if that heatsink was made of copper, and you had a Meredith Module in there :cool:

How do you squeeze 500mA out of a Rkcstr?

Interesting. Does a "fixed" setting generate as much heat as an adjustable cranked all the way up?

this is a set driver and does not get hot as fast as the adjustable i think ... i just used a lil arctic silver on the driver for the heck of it but this laser is awesome  :eek:

Limiting the heat generated at these high currents is a good thing.

why would you set current so high just to reach 300mW of red? This will kill diode so much sooner regardles of this heat sink. Efficiency drops so much after 450mW. Might as well leave it at 450mA and have solid 290mW even with $5 lens...

Is this an LOC or an LCC?

well ill keep it then and see how long it last if some one does want it ill through in a free sled encase u want to replace it or something
(its a LOC from a lpc sled)

here is my new mxdl SF-AW210 build at 190ma

I don't know how long (or short it )will live even if its LOC diode at this current. What duty cycle do you suggest?

Have you tested this diode with 500mA for durability before?

Actually I've had the Long Closed Cans perform better than the Long Open Cans. On the two I tested, the knee didn't show up until 480mA.
