I wanna spend up to 150$ on this laser. What is the max power i can get with 150$? Like 500mW, 1W, 2Ws, 5W,s what?

I would like it to have between 445 and 532 nm if possible

Can somebody help me out?

Some guy offered me a 500mW laser with 445 nm for 150. People told me i can get better with my money so i came here.

Please help me pick out the right laser.

ALSO! I WANT IT TO BE ABLE TO LIGHT A MATCH EASILY, EASILY POP BALLOONS, AND IF POSSIBLE BURN THROUGH PAPER AND THIN WOOD.

I CAN SPEND UP TO 200$ IF NECESSARY.

you could get a 1.5w laser for around 150$ (445nm) for 200$ you could get 1.8w's (maybe)
for 532, probably 200mw-250mw :p (150$) and for 200$ maybe a 300mw if you lucky.
ive had a 50mw laser pop balloons and light matches, so you'll have no trouble.
but with any laser >5mw get good glasses. OD4+

look through the buy sell and trade section on this forum. do you need to buy else where?
is this your first laser? if so you shouldnt be considering 1.5 watts :D try 100mw. my first laser was a 5mw green, and my second was 200mw red.

Sounds like someone who just got their learners permit asking where to by the fastest, cheapest sports car...why not do some reading first? It will help you make the right choice for yourself. You don't need 1W + at first...a focused 100-200mW will pop, burn, light matches just fine, and even with that power laser safety glasses should always be used for burning. Good luck, - Matt

I have a couple of 445nm lasers that I wouldn'd mind letting go that are running between 1.4W and 1.7W which I sell for $150 - $200, and several more running between 550mW and 700mW that I'd sell for $100 - $125. Plus paypal fees and shipping.

All will easily light matches, pop dark balloons, burn through CD cases, etc.

But, I would want to know for sure that you have or have bought safety goggles, and I would want to talk to you on the phone to insure that you undestood proper usage and handling and just how dangerous they can be.

And, after seeing barbel's post above, I would insist on sending out the host separately from the laser diode, driver and heatsink, to be in complaince with federal law. But assembly would consist of unscrewing the head from the host, dropping in the heatsink and screwing it back together.

Let me know if you're interested and I can post some pictures.

hope its not one of them FDA guys triying to bust someone :banghead:

Are they actually doing that?

You definitely shouldn't be getting a high powered laser for your first laser. Especially since, quite frankly you don't seem to know what you're talking about.

Seeing as you don't seem to know what you are talking about, I'd recommend a 200mw or so greenie and some good safety goggles.

Make sure the laser is focusable if you want to burn with it, and a IR filter is a good idea too.

Exactly my thoughts...
It like handing a loaded gun to a 5 year old....

have any safety equipment?

Yes. I am paying him for the laser, rechargable batteries, and a charger for them.

idk if its a rip or not.

He doesn't even have a clue as to what Safety equipment
is...:undecided:

I wouldn't sell him any High Power Laser unless he know
a bit more about what he is asking for and can handle it
safely..

@ Reeve...

BTW.... This makes good reading....
