I have two of these host assemblies with pills that fit very tightly in the battery holder. So tightly that you would need a wrench to remove them.

So the diode will likely need to be soldered to the driver wires with the pill attached to the battery holder.

Other than that there is nothing wrong with these units. They come with the Aluminum heatsink, 1.20-1.25A diode driver preinstalled, set screw, Allen wrench and lens cap.

I'm offering them for $40 each ($10 off the regular LPF price, $16 off the SL webstore price).

BTW, this and my latest batch of DIY host assemblies have no markings on them for a more stealthy look:

The "removable pill" host assemblies are still available for $50 each plus $3 shipping. A Copper heatsink upgrade is $10 extra. :D

Just got my kit today! Really quick shipping.
$50 for basic +$15 for lens and +$10 for the optional copper heatsink upgrade = $81 with shipping, this is a GREAT deal! With this kit (assuming one has the batteries) you can easily (we are talking 2 solder joints here people) build you own 1-1.2W 445 laser for $120 or less! Personally, I got a 2W 445 diode for free, so this laser will have cost me exactly $81 :eg:

Garoq, I just confirmed that you CAN use 16340 batteries instead of RCR123a, it seems that they are the exact same things... Weird how they would have different names :shrug:

Ill post a picture review once I finish the build... I need to go down to harbor freight and buy a real vise, broke my first 2 PHR/LPC diodes because I tried to use other methods...

Thanks for that info and the comments...I highly recommend the Flaminpyro diode press if you don't already have one. :)

I'm new here on the forums, one of those "Arctic noobs". Wicked Lasers did one good thing, they got me interested in being a laser hobbyist. Anyways, this looks like a great break in project to the hobby. As soon as I get a new job I'll be buying one myself.

Welcome to the forum, I think WL helped to start or renew the interest in lasers for quite a few of us. :)

Are there other driver current settings available? It would be cool to have a matching 405 445 and 650 set
