Well there you go then.  That just increased the value of the drive by about $18.  You are only paying $240 for the 6X diode.

LINE 'EM UP!  :p :D ;)

The red diode in this drive is actually a very good one. The can looks unusually long, so it might be more powerful, than other 16x, if the die inside is longer.

It looks the same as the dilda diode... Need to check if the markings in the metal are the same as well.

I'm sorry!  :-[

Here is a pic. I made it only for you! ;)
Stunning pic.

"Love is in the air...", but what else? Smoke in a Can, deodorant, incence? Curious because I'd like to be able to take beautiful beam pics of my soon to be reinvigorated 803T beam.

Here's another one... ;)

Other than love, there is smoke in the air. You can't really take pictures like this without a medium..
It has to be enough to make the beam visible, but not as much, to be visible by itself.

Another thing i do is, i take too many pictures, and then slowly delete the ones with flaws, for example if the beam is broken or too uneven, if the focus is bad, or if the beam is so bright, that it changes the autoexposure setting. If you always make more pics, than you need, you are bound to find a good one or two among them.

Sounds like a good plan. Thanks.

And this is a picture i took in the same lighting conditions, but the camera adjusted exposure to the beams..

This is an older picture and contains two PHR lasers. I used too much smoke, which made the beams too bright, and affected the camera, and made the smoke obvious in the left one.

I always take pictures like that. If i need one, i make 10-15. The two pictures of the 6x beam were just the best two out of many.

I don't understand.. What now?

I prefer to answer each post separatelly. Helps with some people's short attention span.. ;) If i'm away longer, it can mean several posts in a row.

Here it's just the order of the posts, that is wrong, cos Eagle1 wrote at the same time as i did. Imagine post #51 between posts #52 and #53...
I did make two posts as a reply to one, but that was because of the attachments.

It is fat. But it's not flat... ;)

Otherwise, i would say the wider axis of the beam is just as wide as with a PHR. So the 6x beam has more volume.

Spydrexz: No. Why?
Then what are you driving it at?

Umm... I promissed Phenol, i wouldn't drive it higher than 170mA...

I only broke the promise by 11.7mA.. ::)

Why Phenol?

Why not?!? :-?

Because he is my friend, and was concerned about my well being. Or rather my diode's well being..
But mine too, because i wouldn't be well, if the diode died.. ;)

He had a 6x for a while now, and doesn't push it nearly this hard.. But he is an electronics engineer, and they are usually too careful.. ::)
If you ask DrLava what to drive a 6x at, he will tell you 130mW as well.

Well because you bought the diode from GG...

You mean 130mA ::)

Yeah, but GG tells me to use 190-200mA.. Phenol and Lava suggest much less.. I decided to use the average.. ;)

Oh, and i didn't buy the diode from GG. He arranged it for me.

Hehe, i kinda had a feeling you would pick on that.. ;)

No, i mean 130mW. Not 130mA.

A diode can survive a certain max power, not a certain max current. If a diode puts out more light, you have to use a lower current, so that it doesn't go above the max power. It it puts out less light, you can use a higher current, as long as the power is not too high.

Re: SOMEONE is going to be getting a nice package

Yeah.. That's why i want to figure out the max power a PHR can be pushed to, while still providing a decent life. Since their efficiency varies so much, the max current will also vary from one to another.
