Single AA driver for Blu Ray?

Does anyone know where I can purchase some drivers capable of running an 803t@90-100mA from a single AA, hopefully able to fit inside an AiXiZ module?

I have found some nice little hosts I'd like to offer.. all I need is the driver so I can construct them.

Thanks in advance [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Hmm.. seems that one is set for about 41mA... are there any others that can do 90-100mA? I know Jake21 has used some but he hasn't told me where he got them.....

I've heard that these have a boost circuit that gives the voltage a blu-ray diode needs. I have one on it's way here and will test how much current it puts out.

i made this tonight. a AA ni-mh powered blueray.

i know the body is a bit ugly, its a white board marker.
i am grossly under powering it at the moment. its running at 23ma... the driver its self is capable of above 200mA running off a single AA

Could a cree AA flashlight power a blue-ray if you measure the current and use a resister to get about 90mA but would voltage spikes be a problem and what about volts because they will have a boast circuit.

You're evil  :D

I'm really interested in one if the driver in the flashlight I ordered can't put out ~90mA (but the chance for that is pretty low :() and if the price is reasonable. And by the way, is it possible to do this circuit with "normal", non-SMD components for us that don't have the skills to solder SMD? And yes, I'm fully aware that it would become larger...

yes it is possible. but the chip i used is only available in a 3x3mm package
you could use another chip, but i couldn't find any others with such a low input voltage.
pretty much all chips now days come in smd, very few new designs are being produced in through hole for the hobbyist

i am sure your driver will put out at least 90mA, but i doubt it will have enough voltage to run a blueray, nor will it be regulated.

Boost circuits(good ones anyways) will run 15$-25$ for a good one.
Interested in makeing your own? Look in Experiments&mods section.

Hey snytbaggen,

have you had the chance to test yours out yet?

mine is on the way from dx, would be great to know the mW that the boost circuit is able to put out.

Thanks

Use a Li-Ion AA( which is 3.6 or 3.7 volts i think) and the 32-150 mA Lava drive. All the circuitry you need. Its also what im most likely doing, i just need a host...

I unfortunately don't have the materials to make the boards:(.. The main one out of my reach being the laser printer to start with LOL.

If any of you guys that are making them could make a couple of them for me, just send me a PM please:)

The li-ion battery idea is a great one too:D Is there by chance a US source for these without the 2-week wait?

I've found an awesome little host that would work nicely and work great too:D I'll be offering these for sale when finished:) I already have my own personal build I am happy with:D
