Question about glasses

I recently purchased my first laser: O-Like's 400mW 405nm (Power Rock 400mW blu-ray 405nm laser torch/adjustable/waterproof), and plan to do a review of it soon. But first I have a question to ask about glasses.

With my order I bought two pairs of O-like's 405nm,450nm,473nm,532nm laser safety goggles. O-like claims they are OD 5+, OD 6+ and I had read here that for 400mW only OD 4 was necessary. Well, now that the laser is here I have done some more research and found that a lot of people think they are junk. I took some photos of the beam through the glasses and it seems to stop it quite a bit, but do I still need more protection?

(one is the laser through sunglasses and the other is through my laser glasses)

Those goggles may work for specular reflections, but I wouldn't trust them to handle a direct hit or reflection.

Through decent goggles, I find the dot of 405nm to appear to be yellow, and no purple color is visible at all.

Check the links in my signature for decent, and good goggles.

I'm no MacGyver but I think I've found a temporary solution. If I wear both pairs at once, I get what you were talking about:

Its kinda dorky and is a pain, but it will work until I get a new pair of glasses
