Bad news and good news. The bad news is that the max current for the diode from the PS3 sled (the KES-4XX) is about 40mA, so it won't probably burn much of anything. The good nes is it also has the red and IR diodes in the same can, which can be fun if you build a switch or something to switch from red to violet.

Yeah don't bother with ps3 diodes. They are weak, cant burn. Only for show. I suggest you build a PHR. It's very cheap, with great outputs. I just built mine today! It burnnneeezzz!

Thanks, where can I get a PHR bare diode? The ones on modwerx are in a sled. Andy used to have the bare PHR diodes because I have bought one from him and they are great.

You could just harvest them from the sled, I did today, but if you are really scared of breaking the diode, or just don't want to harvest it, you could buy any of these options from HighTechDealZ.

PHR803T Blu Ray Harvested Laser Diode

Or

PHR-803T Blu Ray Laser in Aixiz Module

If you choose the first option (Bare Diode) you will need to set it into an AixiZ Laser Module.
