Default Re: PHR-803T for about $20

It's ok, I'll be patient. Considering they're on the West Coast and I'm East Coast (or I guess Ohio is considered Mid-West??), I expect it to be 4-5 business days.

My shipping was $12, but with the 10% discount and since I bought four, the total was $80.36, so only $20 each

Well, just to let you know, I ordered a few extra drives today. As long as I have better luck (or am more careful) with this batch, I'll have a couple extra. I'll definitely let you know how it turns out next week when I get them. I only need one working laser, and hopefully I can get that done w/ one drive

I just wish I knew why my last one flaked out on me. Went dim, then yellow, then dead. I've been building CCS lm317 circuits for years for normal LED projects, and tested it again and again. I have no clue what went wrong. Maybe I had some static in me when I picked it up or something......

Just wanted to thank bmansc for the info on the inexpensive source of Blu-ray diodes. I received my drive quickly and will be building my first blu-ray pointer soon. I too am new here, but hope to be able to contribute some in the future. Thanks again!

Shipping is $20 for me, does the discount code include shipping? that would be about 34 for one , else ~36 bucks.Anyway, it's kinda the same as ordering the 803 sled from psxboy, I want a powerful bluray as cheap as possible :-/

I can get em for 27$ shipped it says.
If the shipping is too much, get in on the GB for the sleds. The shipping on the GB should end up being less than what you will pay here.

Glad I could contribute something to the group. Shipping is bad for some, but it's a nice cheap source for many of us. I've gotten 4 myself, plus one to use in the desktop :-)

Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know, for harvesting the cans from their heatsink I've found it's really easy to just snap the metal apart... it's really brittle, and using two pairs of diagonal cutters it was really a cinch to just break away the original heatsink.

Thanks for the link, this is really a fantastic deal...

PS: does anyone know what shipping will cost to Canada? (I can't buy them right now, I'm waiting for funds to reach my paypal account )

Discounts never apply to shipping as a rule.
Geek shipping was $10 to Missourri USA very reasonable, Big box well packed in seperate CD drive boxes.

I got my 3, SD-H802A today all had 803T. Yes on Saturday!
I ran it with the cover off on a standard definition DVD and saw bright red light. I was thinking it would use the BR diode.

Take the brown surface mount caps. off to use across LD or PSs! A hemostat and a heat gun or blue flame does the remove trick.

Hope I find a lens for BR with a short FL.

It has a red diode, that can take 100mA at least, but no idea what power...

Does being refurbished affect the diode's life?

I highly doubt it, these were probably returned for something really simple such as a faulty motor that wouldn't open the drive, or a button that wouldn't work.
