O-like 400mW blu-ray 405nm laser torch - Divergence issue

I know that this laser has been reviewed and discussed is several threads recently but I have one question regarding the beam divergence.

I don't have any experience with 405nm lasers but it seems weird to me that the dot looks like if surrounded by many other little dots what makes the beam looking diffused. Of course that I used to play with the focus ring but this was what I got. The lens is clean, with no dust or scratches on it.

Could be this the price for being water-resistant? I'm not sure as I have seen some pictures in the reviews and the beams seemed "normal". Do you think I should claim it?

Do you see the dots when you have laser safety glasses on? (which you better have) if its only when you look at the dot without safety glasses on (only look at the dot if it is a good distance away like at least 40') then it is just your eyes not being able to focus on the short wavelength. To me it looks like the dot has bunch of lines coming out of it.

Since this was your first post I figured it would be a good idea to remind you of this. A 100mw green laser dot looks as bright as the sun. Now imagine how bright 400mw would look like. That is how bright your laser actually is. Even though your laser doesn't look bright to you, it actually is.

Actually it's not my first laser - I already have 650nm, 532nm and 808nm lasers. However this wavelangth was new to me...

Honestly, I tested the laser without goggles (which are supposed to arrive soon together with tripod) outside. I realize that it would be silly to try this kind of laser in the interior without any protection...

Anyway, I didn't realize that this might be a human eye focusing issue... I'll try it with glasses as far as it arrives.
