We are "hoping."  This first one looks good.  We'll have some replications (and extensions) of the test in a couple of days.  If you want to "take a chance" buy now.  It's what the seller did ;)

Peace,
dave

I am now consumed with desire, what current is that at? Also, have you had a chance to push it any further?

I just updated the picture to show current.

I wanted to try it in a FlexDrive build to see how the FlexDrive does at this current and the higher voltage that Dave reported...

Holds just fine! :)

I don't want to kill it just yet. ;D Maybe use is at this power to see if it starts to give less output...
Jay

P.S. Besides, Dave has his 8X diode (possibly a different diode, but our measurements and graph are the same), at 365mA's/512mW's (405-G-1 lens mod) So we have two comparisons going. :)

ok so reverse this picture here with the lowest wattage laser closest to you and the strongest farther.  I've found that having the one laser closer (more powerful) tends to overstate the power of the comparison.  If you reverse it, as well as the existing picture, we can get a true understanding of the differences between the independant lasers

That is still one HELL of an impressive picture.

How come I don't get these goodies no mo

Yours is therefore the "longevity" test subject. I have 3, so with my 1st one i am going to do a V-I-P plot until it dies, 2nd will be in a nice large torch build, and 3rd will be used as a longevity test at a higher current? If anyone has other suggestions of what I should do with them instead, please feel free to suggest.

Jay, I am so excited to see the results of your testing... if this is the same diode as the one in the BDR-203BK sled, I am going to buy like 10 of them. And thank you SenKat for sacrificing such a nice sled for the community! I'm pretty sure that everybody, along with me, wants to see this diode pushed to the death (though I guess putting it that way sounds a little cruel [smiley=evil.gif] ;D).

Heh - you are welcome :) It IS a total sacrifice, as I will NOT be carrying those sleds in my store now, or any time in the future, since the distributor is playing games. They can play games with themselves, NOT with me by raising the prices they way they did with me. They will not budge on their "cost" price to me - and that leaves me absolutely no room to sell them for any reward for my time and agravation - I would LOSE money selling these, as High Octane is selling them cheaper than I can purchase them.

Jay - I will STILL replace your sled if you manage to kill it, but it will be from H.O.'s stock. Lemme know if you need one, Jay - I'll get it ordered, and ask him to ship direct to you if possible :)

Bummer Greg...

I can't believe you are still saying that you want to replace this! Stop that! Not going to let that happen. I'm very VERY happy that you sent me this one to test! :)

I'll make it up to you some how. ::)

Maybe they will come down in the future. But in the mean time, we can get some good testing done!

Charlie, please do keep us posted with your testing!

Ken, please don't make me set that up again. Believe me, it won't matter in this case...

If you look at the picture, you will notice that I am not much closer to the 384mW laser. I am just about directly in front of the three of them, and they are pointing at an angle.

That sucker is just super bright. Just imagine what Dave's 512mW build must look like!

Ouch!

Oh man... yes, the pin out is the same as PHR and other burners...
Jay

P.S. What driver? I noticed that the V4 Flexdrive holds a charge and you have to make sure you short the wires. (just in case) Now, I could be mistaken about this, but I killed a long open can connecting it to a V4 FlexDrive, so I am guessing it had a charge in it.

ive hooked both up and got nothing... on the first one i discharged the normal way by touching a wire to either side. on the second i actually soldered the wire to the + and - on the driver while i extracted the diode. neither of them have even LED'd on me. :-/ :'( flex drive v4 was the driver i used btw..
