I just checked with them ,they said it is true .but 100pcs packed .they don't sell one . :(.

I am sorry for that I didn't make clear for minimum order before I posted this product . but the product is real as they said .

Susie, tell them that this is a definite sale for hundreds. Not exaggerating here...

But we need a couple to test first. (We've been down that road where the supplier is promising something that turns out less that expected - we can't buy 100 pcs. without testing a couple first)

I should negotiate with them .by the way .I am just middle man to sell this products .that does not stand the quality of all of my products .after all red and green laser are our major products .Thanks

We understand, and you are a very good middle man as shown by the reviews on this site, keep up the good work ;D ;D

Thank you Susie, for replying!

I so hope the minimum order is not just an excuse. Because, like Jayrob said, we as a forum can almost immediatelly buy that hundred. Especially, if you arrange some sort of discount for a group buy.

But we WILL need to test at least one FIRST. We need to see it's real with our own eyes, because we have been deceived several times by now, by other suppliers.

No one will buy it unless we test it. If we test it and determine it is good, then everone will buy it.

What you could do for now, is to get us that datasheet. The entire document. That shouldn't be hard to get, but it would be very helpful. You have my email address. If you can get that datasheet, please send it to me. Or just attach it here.

Thanks!

You are correct Jay... We need a couple. I was just thinking of the horrors that could ensue, if the test diode was a random freak, non representative of the rest, and we based our decisions on that! The chances of that happening are low, but not zero. If we learned anything by now, it's that 405nm's are a little crazy.

On the other hand, all those diodes, that dissapointed us so far, gave us something else - a basis for comparison. By now we have collected a lot of data, which will come in VERY handy, in a case like this.

If the diodes she is selling are in fact what that datasheet is describing, then BUY THEM!!!!! The datasheet is for a Nichia diode. Nichia Semiconductor invented 405nm diodes, and their diodes are used in Coherent's line of 405nm modules (the cream of the crop). I'm a little skeptical, however, since Nichia diodes typically sell for $1000 each and up...

If they are Nichia, the ~$75 Sandstone wants for one is a steal especially for 120mW.. Hell ~$75 for a true 120mW blu-ray is a steal.

Eh, I'm hesitant to give them all the credit.  I think they were much more just lucky to have one particular guy working for them, and were also lucky that they let him keep working on his own instead of stopping him to make him work on things they thought were more worthwhile at the time.  VERY lucky for Nichia, his stuff worked; even luckier for Nichia, he had patented everything along the way on their behalf, so they got to keep it all when he left.  Without that one guy, they would be nowhere near the leader that they are today because of what he was able to accomplish.

------------------------

But I'm always up for more powerful 405nm diodes.  Hopefully some samples come through and prove to be worthwhile.  The 6x groupbuy thread proved the forum can hit orders of 100+ for powerful violet laser diodes, as long as they are worthwhile.

Hehe, you know, i almost expected you to say this, from what we've been talking about before.. ;)

We've already seen a datasheet. Look at the first post in this thread. You mean to say "I hope suizie contacts her supplier, asks for a sample, they agree and send her one, we wait till it arrives, igort buys it, she ships it, we wait till it arrives, then he does some tests on it to confirm its power!".... If you're happy with looking at a datasheet, check back a page... Otherwise hang on to your horses, it might be a while before we know anything about these diodes.

In business it doesn't much matter if it is luck. It was their employee who did the work so it's their patent and their profits. Luck or no luck, that's just how it is.

If you own a business and get lucky enough to have the right guy working for you who develops a product, then you, as the parent
business have full rights, both material and intellectual, to that work. Upon employment, most companies make you sign a waiver that states that anything you develop during the course of employment becomes property of the company. So maybe Nichia got lucky, but if you ask me the type of gamble that the company took to develop 405nm technology is the fuel that drives the free market. Without risk (and consequently luck) there would be no innovation whatsoever. Credit where credit is due, my friend..

We've seen part of a datasheet. We won't be getting diodes today. But we could see the whole datasheet today.

Yes, i asked Susie to email me the whole datasheet PDF file. The image is just a scan of one page. I want to see the rest while waiting for the diode..

It will also help me establish if the datasheet and the diode match.

The rest of the datasheet will show various graphs, more detailed electrical characteristics and so on.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I definitely hope it's for real. Sounds like a long road ahead to find out, though.. Plus it will be quite difficult to determine if they are really Nichia diodes. Diodes are usually stamped with a manufacturer code, but unless you know what the code for Nichia is, there's no way to tell. If they are not Nichia diodes, then obviously a Nichia datasheet is useless. As much as I'd like to believe that the technology is widespread enough for the prices to drop this low, I'm still very much a skeptic. My skepticism won't be eased until someone conclusively proves that they are as advertised. No offense to Sandstone but these aren't her product, and no one knows anything about her supplier. It's pretty easy to download a datasheet and claim that the diodes in question are what is described in the datasheet.

Compared to manufacturing orders, LPF orders make up an exceedingly small percentage of the total diode demand worldwide. That has not stopped Chinese exporters from noticing us, however, and hasn't stopped them from wanting to cater to our small market. This gives us access to some truly great deals, but the majority of LPF members aren't electronics engineers in the blu-ray trade and wouldn't know a true Nichia diode if it hit them in the face (myself included). This makes us a pretty easy mark for deception.

Fortunately for all of us LPF has a dedicated group of people who are willing to spend their valuable time and money to run a battery of tests to find out if they are at least truly 100mW diodes. As far as proving if they are really Nichia, this will be difficult without some inside information about the markings that Nichia uses.

All told, at this price point any true 100mW diode would be a good deal provided it is genuine. Showing us a datasheet for Nichia diodes and then selling us Sanyo (for example) is a form of deception, however, and would hurt my confidence in the seller..

Could this be the 4x Diode? ;)

If we can get the 4x for little over $40 I don't see why I want to pay $30 more for a Diode with longer legs. ::)
