OKay, more progress (but still no driver yet)... I have converted the 'clicky' switch to a momentary 'non-clicky' switch. It was actually fairly easy - after pushing the switch out of the aluminum case all I had to do was move the metal washer from the top side of the contact ring to the bottom. This severely limited travel of the button so I shaved the plastic on the inside of the switch a bit to allow the washer to slide further down. It turns out that the switch was identical to that of a standard ball point pen so conversion was simple. Once I get a new flexdrive for it I'll have a nice pointer/burner in a 'stylus' style housing. I think I'll move my AW210 into one of these hosts eventually and use the Dorcy for an 8x project. I'm definitely going to have to purchase some 405-G-1 lenses, too.

Will you start producing this or are you just building one for yourself?

I'd appreciate a video of this host, it really looks promising ;)

I may start producing some of these for sale depending on time and money available. I wish the front of the barrell was slightly longer so that I could 'secure' the focus ring behind the barrell opening. It would improve the appearance and for those who just want a pointer, it would prevent accidental turning of the ring.

Ok, I have thought of a modification that would put the focus ring inside the barrel head. All I would have to do is cut 3/16 of an inch off the threaded part of the lower barrel assembly. This would still leave plenty of thread to screw the top on and at the same time, move the module low enough to allow the head of the barrel to screw down over the top of the focus ring. I am going to have to build a second pointer with this host to try this out.

One month later and I'm finally finished with this build!!! I have attached a pic of the working PHR Pen build. Sorry for the crappy pic, I used my camera phone...

okay, it still won't attach... well it looks just like the pics from before except with a laser beam coming out of it.
