Nice pics! I like the pic with the highlighter ink, it's amazing what these violet lasers can do.

Hey you did a really nice job on your build there!

That's a lot of work to get it all nice a perfect like that. I know. Nice job!

It's a nice 'beefy' host. I showed an inside view of that host a while back:

Just to mention this though... Now that we have the boost circuit FlexDrive by Lava, this (DDL host) for the red burner builds, makes a nice blu-ray host too! :

Using 3.0 volt lithium primaries with a silicon diode, to drop the supply to 5.5 volts. :

Hey Dark_Horse, you did a FABULOUS looking job on that build ;) Whomever you made the deal with, is sure gonna get a GREAT LOOKIN' laser. Everything looks so professional,no BETTER than professional ;) Sure makes me wish I had the equipment & knowledge to create something so beautiful & functional ;) I envy the lucky stiff you made the deal with. He/She is getting one great looking laser (lucky stiff) phoenix77/rob

Nice work! Curious, do you use any thermal paste between the back of the diode and the heatsink?

For me the process of building these things is more than half the fun.

I paint a small amount into the inside of the module where the diode gets pressed into. I used to smear it around the module were it would slide into the heat-sink, for the best heat-transfer, but I can't stay out of my lasers and I get messy when I tinker, so I usually do not coat the module anymore.

Thanks a bunch for the compliments, this means a lot from the MXDL master. These are really fun hosts to build in, lots of material, and relativly more room than a 1xAA host with a lava-drive, (which is what I have been building). This host and board is perfect for the application, and it is like a tank, should be good for pretty long duty-cycles.
phoenix77,
I am really sure that the laser will be happy in its new home ;) I really enjoy building lasers ;D ( sorry, "over-geeking" ;D)
