Anyone use one of these yet? This drive is slightly cheaper than the Pioneer 8x but I wonder if its diode is as strong or efficient.

At this time, anything you buy with the exception of the Pioneer BDR drive will be purely experimental... Trust me, I learned the hard way with the BDR-s sleds!

he's saying he has a addiction to lasers that can't be cured until he admits he even has the problem...Thats my kind of addiction.

P.S. I'm also a Jesus freak

aah, i see! so it *is* laser-related, i`m relieved! :)
are you "a jesus-freak", or "one of the jesusfreaks"? there is a group here, in germany, called jesus-freaks. kinda the alternate, really open-for-all split from the official church. younger people and punks are there, for example. my gf was/is one of them.

I went and purchased them from newegg.com

and yes i bought the lava4's set to 360ma and they worked right away and they are all kicking..

one thing though.. i ruined an 8x and a phr this way... when extracting from the heatsink.. dont jar the diode to hard or quickly , you will loosen the diode window from the can

you can carefully de-can the diode, it has sucessfully been done already! or is it toast already? was it ever powered up?

i tried to "carefully" do that.. something must have rubbed the diode becaus it would light up extremely weak afterwards.. i trashed it..

it did power up just fine at first but as the window moved around the light coming out of it looked like a spiderweb and it collimated into different patterns.
