Greetings everyone,

After the success of the Glow Kit which I've been selling in the BST board, I'm here to introduce a new site to you that I've built from the ground up to make obscure and unusual materials readily available at a hobbiest scale, with reasonable prices and without the huge minimum orders you'll find direct from manufacturers.

www.405nm.com is the best site to find affordable and unique items to go with your 405nm lasers. I've scoured the web for the highest quality glow in the dark, fluorescent, and color changing items and anything else I could think of that might go well together with ultraviolet light and compiled it together on one page.

You'll find prices that substantially beat out competing sites selling glow in the dark items such as 'glowinc', while also offering manageable quantities so that you can pick and choose a large variety without spending a fortune.

Please feel free to leave feedback, questions, and comments, or contact me by private message for inquiries about any item or quantity not listed on my site and I'll be happy to help.

As a special bonus for members of LaserPointerForums, enter code "LPF" during checkout to get a free glow in the dark wrist band with any order of $20 or more.

Thanks for ordering :)

I'm also currently in the process of obtaining something very unique and exotic, I estimate it'll be added to my store in ~2 weeks  more updates to follow soon.

Very nice! Good luck with your new business.

The magnetic fluid is not something I previously even considered, but it looks very interesting... will probably grab some from you soon.

You should consider adding nitinol to your store. It would be really cool :)

How do you get the ferrofluid OFF the magnet?

Thanks for the suggestion, I've actually been looking for a while to get some nitinol wire myself but forgot about it. I'll see about adding that some time soon.

How do you get the ferrofluid OFF the magnet?

Ideally, you don't let it get onto the magnet by keeping a dish or container between the two. It can be pretty annoying to get off but a paper towel and a bit of dish soap does the trick fairly well as ferrofluid is oil based. I like the glass container with water method shown in the video personally.

Very nice! Good luck with your new business.

Thanks! And if anyone has any other suggestions please don't hesitate to let me know :)

Hmm, exotic you say?.. Guess i will have to keep an eye out..
I love the glow sheets, btw.

I have some ferrofluid too, got it awhile ago, pretty awesome stuff. What i got came in a sealed bottle with clear fluid and a blob of ferrofluid inside. Easier to deal with that way, but theirs alot of cool things you can't do with a little blob in a bottle.

I've been trying to work out a good way to get the fluid sealed up in a bottle like that without sticking to the glass at all, sadly the formulas I tested all seemed inefective if the fluid was left sitting still for more than a few days and then it would stain the glass and need to be agitated for a while to loosen it off again. Did yours have this issue too?

I might have to look into specialty glass coatings, I would really like to offer those kind of sealed bottles. I've got a few thousand mL of ferrofluid sitting around that went un-used from a previous project, so I figured it might be of similar interest to people who like lasers and glow in the dark things :p

Here is where i got mine: FerroFluid Desk Toys, Magnetic Toys and Office Toys | CZ FerroFluid

According to his faq, they use 14 different suspention liquids, but they don't offer it for retail, only personal use.

As for sticking to the glass, the suspention fluid prevents it. However, if you leave a magnet on the bottle with fluid stuck to it for an extented time, it still stains.
