i want 2 make a laser under 60$ cuz i have a budget (which is low i know) so im thinking of buying a 28$ 6x 300mw diode + 18$ rckstr driver, need a cheap heat sink under 20$ so i was thinking of replacing the lens of the module with built in heat sink to a axiz lens (12.99$).

Total so far = 58.99$

You're not going to use a 6x in a project that has a budget of $60....

Here's what I recommend you do (Assuming you have decent soldering skills)

1) Get the PHR-803T diode from hightechdealz.com - $20
2) Get a flexdriveom drlave with the current pre-set to 110mA - $30
3) Get a pen host from jayrob for $14 shipped. - $14.

You're looking @ $64. Now, it might seem logical to get a rkcstr driver because it's a few dollars cheaper. Don't because you will then need to power your laser with lithium batteries, plus you'll need a charger for those batteries which = more money in the long run.

a 300mw blu-ray 28.99http://o-like.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8&products_id=13

Again, go with hightechdealz.com .....

405nm SF-AW210 Blu Ray Laser Diode in Aixiz Laser Module [SF-AW210 in Aixiz] - $40.57 : High Tech DealZ, Simplifying the LASER Hobby!

That's the same exact diode already pressed into the aixiz module for $40.57 + free shipping. The diode from o-like.com is just the diode for $29. Now, factor in shipping, you're looking at $33. Then, you'll need to purchase an aixiz module which usually runs $5 + shipping. Suddenly, what you thought was cheaper from o-like isn't so.

Also, that diode won't give you any where near 300mW. The SF-AW210 are kinda shaky diodes. If you want a 6x, go with the GGW as they are more reliable. Also, if this is your first build I really really suggest you go with the PHR first.

Edit: Not to mention that hightechdealz.com is located in the US so you'll get it faster than you would from China.

Do you have experience harvesting diodes from their heatsinks and pressing them into aixiz modules?

no i don't this is my first laser but in the long run it's like 30$ cheaper i don't know but it is a lot cheaper and the only way you learn is through experience (and youtube videos lol)

You're absolutely right, you do learn through experience. However, if you mess up this diode, that's $30 down the drain. If you mess up a PHR, it's $10 down the drain. Trust me and go with the PHR, because I can almost guarantee you you'll mess up your first time.

i know that i might mess but im not going to make many lasers (dont have the money to invest in the hobby) so i want my first one to be very good.

That's the thing. The SFW diode isn't all that great. The PHR is a decent, cheap diode, trust me. Do what you want though, I can't force you to do things with your build. Good luck with the build dude, I'm done here.
